to Mullen and co. I was just curious since spring practice starts in a week. Also- by now there's got to be some tidbits on how our current coaches operate- compared to the last "coach".

I don't think they are familiar with this type of workout regimen.

Edited to add: I agree with you down there Lumpy...they are committed to what is being asked of them though. But evidently, the new strength coach works their *** off.

Mullen talks to the media tomorrow about spring ball starting, etc. I have heard from one players parents that the players love him. Workouts have been tougher than Croomz, but the players feel a purpose from the coaches that wasn't there before, therefore they are willing to put out the extra effort.

You have heard of the players taking on the personality of the coach(es)?? I think the fire that this staff brings compared to the last one will show that statement in these players.

My friends are really enjoying Mullen and its getting competitive. A lot of them don't sit around nearly as much as they did under Croom. I think overall Mullen has a lot of support from the team.

if he is working their butts off. They will respect him when they realize how much better of a player they will become. So, that's the life of a strength coach. You are always hated during workouts and loved when your through.

He is doing unique and innovative things that the previous strength coach never did. Our players are mentioning how much stronger and more flexible they feel. They are saying this is the hardest workouts they've ever had!

This is said every time a new strength coach is hired. Every time. By every school.

that we "hit a home run" when we hired either Nowell or Pollard. Though Nowell did work for Nick Saban at LSU, so he might have had some good things to say about him (someone who cares might want to search back and see what they could find).

there is a story that the players can barely walk the next day. It's pretty much a given it will be said.

Maybe it was there and I just missed it, but I didn't give a **** about that hire. I do admit that I was excited about the Newell hire though. But my point is, the positivity about this strength coach isn't coming from dubmass fans. It's coming from a guy who's won 2 national titles. I don't give a **** if the fans are excited about the hire or not. But when a guy like Urban Meyer says it's a "critical hire" and a "home run" I pay attention.

<span style="font-weight: bold; text-decoration: underline;">about one of his employees?</span> I don't think he would.

All I am saying is proof is in the results on the field. We will see.

But I also don't expect him to go so far out of his way to praise him either. If you go back and read his comments, it's not like he said things like "good hire" or "he'll do a good job." He went pretty far over and above the usual comments you hear from coaches in these situations.

YOU CANNOT TURN A TURTLE INTO A HARE.

Really want to get guys faster and stronger put them with a track coach who is also big on weights. That is basically what guys do to get ready for the combine.

The strength coach main jobs are to prepare the team as a whole, as much as possible for the what will be encountered during the game. At lot of that is just pure talent however. Secondly, and what Meyer is often referring to, is to instill TEAM, COMPETITION, MOTIVATION, etc. through physicality.

this new strength coach the second coming. I think you let Halpert's quote take you off on a tangent. As a matter of fact, I'm glad everythings been kinda quiet on what is going on up there...in sharp contrast to the '01 or '02 "Iron Dawg" tire lifting, army drill, new attitude cover story in Sports Illustrated. That went well.
