Has Fanning outcoached Stans with less talent or does she

have a better staff than Stans? Reason for the question is that she has been quite bad with the exception of the Latoya years. We all have made fun of her in the past, and there were some posts that said she better get it together quick if she wants the Ninja's approval.

I want us to be good, but I don't get upset when we lose. She has done well this year and I'm glad for them. It's about damn time that we at least make the NCAA's. It looks like she's taking a page from Stansbury. ESPN has us in the 8/9 game with the winner playing UCONN in Connecticut.

Just not a good recruiter. Latoya and Tan just fell into her lap, and assistant Greg Franklin brought in the Congos.

That said, Fanning usually gets the wbb team to better than where they should be. Case in point, 2 years ago, the team was godawful (lost to Belmont and an 0-5-at-the-time UAB team at home, but rebounded to 7-7 in the conference). It's just she can't really recruit so we're so far behind in talent.

If GB would just hire her an ace recruiter she'd have us in the NCAA's every year.

with their worst team in 25 years. She would have already been **** canned if MSU gave a rats *** about women's basketball. She choked all the big games when she had Tan & Toya too.

Yeah, it's their "worst team in 25 years" but their RPI is still 11. (http://collegerpi.com/women/). The fact that we even came close to beating Tennessee this year was thanks to Fanning's coaching. Plus, we did win some big games this year. Beat LSU in both Starkville AND Baton Rouge, and we knocked down a ranked Vanderbilt team that came in 2nd in the SEC. Remember, only 2 players on our team are good enough to possibly play on Tennessee (Lumanu and Mokango), and neither would start.

She's a pretty good floor coach, but can'r recruit a lick. Case in point - a couple of years ago there was a girl from Jackson that grew up a State fan and ended up at Rutgers (part of the infamous nappy-headed ho team, I think). Latoya Thomas and Tan White really just fell into her lap. They both could have gone anywhere but wanted to stay close to home. Jennifer Fambrough was a "Varnardo-type," a good player from a small town in Tennessee. Didn't get recruited by the big boys (girls) until late in the process, so I guess thats a good recruit but that was over 10 years ago.

The Congo trio was part of a "hire me as an assistant from this small time junior college and I will deliver them" deal.

Actually the girl who went to Rutgers was from East Oktibbeha County High School and has an aunt who was on the team at the time. She was a five-star recruit, and if she were on the team now, the Lady Bulldogs might have won the SEC this season.

Her team has outplayed her coaching ablity this year. Many of the games they lost were because she just flat out got out-coached.
