Has Miss State ever had a player with a NCAA record?

I'm pretty sure Bruce Castoria set the single season home run record with 28. It didn't last very long

The NCAA record was set by John Reaves of Florida against Auburn in 1969 when he threw 9 picks in a game. He did attempt 66 passes, but 9 picks is unbelievable. That's like Jevan Snead on steroids.

Not sure if I am remembering correctly, but I think Lorenzo Daniel, in track and field, had an NCAA record in the 200m back in 1988.

Didn't Wes Carroll tie the DI-A record for consecutive passes attempted or completed (can't remember which one) to start a career without an interception and then promptly throw a pick on the next pass.

entered the Alabama game in '07 needing two to tie and three to break. All anyone talked about all week, and first pass of the game was an interception. Those are the records I love, because they require perfection. One screw up and its over.

All he had to do was throw one pass against Alabama w/o getting it intercepted, and the record was his. But he threw a pick before we could get out of the tunnel.

I want to say the NCAA record for most punt attempts is some nearly untouchable number, one of those records set in a different era that will never be touched, like Cy Young's win record. I could be wrong, but I think he was well short of the NCAA record.

Castoria set the record in 1979 (I think it was 29 home runs though). Raphael Palmiero tied it in 1983 or 1984. But it wasn't broken until the LSU steroid era of the early 1990s.

I thought Palemiero beat him by 1 but you are probably right. Pete Incaviglia from Okalahoma State hit 45 or so in 1985 but I believe he broke someone besides Castoria's record.</p>

So Castoria only held the record for 3 years.

Maybe Henig should've stuck around and thrown 3 more picks. There is obviously a future in it.

I could have extended the record even farther but the concession stand worker quit serving me.

There is no such player as Gage Viator that played at LSU and hit that many homeruns. Maybe they got the school wrong.
