Has there been any projection for what Davis Wade will look like this season?

From everything I heard- the base structure of the endzone will be complete and hopefully useable by the students. The suites and all that will then begin to be worked on.

And of course - the west concourse has to be complete.

Wasn't there a guy on here that works in construction saying "I'm glad I'm not in charge of doing all they said they're going to do by the start of the football season" or something like that?

They need to weather to clear up, which it will in the Summer. But if they a few more weeks of rain, it could really put them in a time-crunch in July/August.

Yeah several guys got on here claiming that there's almost no way they will do it in time. After that, the athletic dept announced that they are still on schedule.

Why would weather effect the west concourse? It's almost completely covered -- and they've been working around the clock on it some.

It was my understanding that only this part of the actual expansion was "planned" for completion this year...of course, the concourse needs to be largely completed in order for it to be feasible to allow students into the area from a hazard standpoint. Anything else is gravy though -- and it certainly seems to me that the endzone is ahead of schedule right now...

because they broke up a bunch or concrete below it. secondly the weather is a factor. its rained a bunch over the last month and a half. hell, its deluged about once a week for the last 6 weeks. and yes, they are behind schedule, so they do need good weather to catch up.

Does that pic update like the ****** oxblue link I currently have bookmarked? Or is it just one pic in an archive?

edit:

Nevermind... I refreshed and answered my own question.
Thanks for the new link

They've still got almost 4 months before the season begins, so from an appearance standpoint it looks like most of the structure will be in place. Should look great. About all they have to do in the part you have ellipsed is to add the bleachers, and probably some areas underneath for access and safety. Looks really close to the field too.

And ... it's "affect" ......

Article on other stadium expansions in the SEC

Saw an article on al.com a couple days ago about expansions at other SEC stadiums. They particularly mentioned Texas A&M going to about 102,000 and LSU bumping up to just over 100,000. So that makes what ... at least 4 stadiums in the SEC with over 100,000 (the other two being Alabama and Tennessee)?

The reason the article was written was to ask "is Auburn falling behind?". They haven't had an expansion in quite a few years, so I suppose their fans are getting a bit worried. But at 87,000 and change, they'll still be 25K ahead of us even after our expansion.

That was me.. And I was there again very recently..

Harrell is hauling ***. The amount of progress they've made on the west concourse is impressive. The concrete is mostly complete for the floor and the structural walls of the concessions/restrooms I'd judge to be 80%. They just started forming and pouring the ramps to reconnect to the vomitoriums. The restrooms are going to feel huge compared to what we're used to. I can't wait to get a feel for what the grand staircase will look like on the south end.

I'll say again that you're literally not going to recognize the place when they're done.

And to anyone wondering if weather has anything to do with work under the west side.... it matters. Maybe on over in the summer when finishing trades are working it won't slow anything down, but right now rain is an issue for them. Luckily spring rains move through quickly.

One thing to remember about projects like this. The construction company will do WHATEVER IT TAKES to meet the deadline. Projects like this with hard deadlines that have real consequences to the client have real steep performance incentives/penalties. If they have to work 24/7 when the weather is good to get is done, that's what they will do.

Right. They'll have to repour all of that. Plus, they'll need to give the dirt some time to settle. I'm not a construction worker - or a civil engineer for that matter - but unusual amounts of rain can prolong all of those processes.

I've got a question for you...

Basically, it has to do with the transition of the new concourse from the endzone to the east side. Will that be level or will it require a staircase or gradual slope to make up for the elevation transition?

I ask this -- because I know they "built up" the elevation under the west side probably close to 10 feet to match the height of the concourse going around the new endzone. Is the elevation on the east side already "built up" or will there be an elevation shift in the transition?

If there is an elevation shift in transition -- you have to think a lower level east side renovation has to be in the works sometime in the not-so-distant future...
