They've pitched their asses off and have given us a chance to win. You couldn't ask for much more against Florida's offense. Too bad our outfield (or Cohen) can't position themselves properly to take away the extra base hits.

Yep- pitchers did very well today. Proud of both of them.

Caleb's big brother is a close friend of mine. Been so proud of him this year.

What a way to end the game!

Bradford may have been "cheating in" to try and take away the run on a single up the middle. We just have to understand that our opponent is one of the best hitting teams in the country and their lineup is potent from top to bottom. Knowing that, you play deep and try to limit the balls hit in the gap. Looking back on it, Ogden's diving catch to end the top of the 9th looms large right now. One game away from Omaha. We need to play balls to the wall tomorrow.

Go Dawgs!!!

I think Cohen has done fine. He deserved a little time to build; he's coming around when he needs to. This year has been a pleasant surprise.

I questioned him taking Routt out so early (BTW, I HATE questioning something after the announcer starts harping on it- sounds like you're just repeating them. And, I'm not really a fan of questioning a lot of coaching calls- they see the team every day, they know what's going on better than you more than likely).

It worked for us. That's all that matters in a game like this. Now we have to figure out how to win tomorrow.

I like that we only used two pitchers today... I just don't like using Reed up. BUT, have to win.

Thanks to Cohen for doing what needed to be done.

the positioning of the OF in that inning cost us two outs *(in that inning alone). Whomever decided to position CT as the 2B's backstop for Zunino and the heart of their order was crazy.

But GO DAWGS. Get it done tomorrow.

there were two outs. I can't think of any logical reason to take that chance of playing shallow. Maybe you're trying to hold the runner on third in case a single is hit? That's a very slim chance when he's running on contact. Why not put yourself in a better position vs. a guy with pretty good power?

Again, hindsight is 20/20, but I didn't understand the decision to play shallow there with 2 outs. It was certainly frustrating at the time.

the original post mentioned Cohen, and why I was agreeing with the idea of deciding not to play deep with 2 outs as a coaching decision. No matter who decided to take the risk of playing shallow, they got beat twice in the same inning.

But I'll say it again: we got it done either way. Let's win tomorrow and make a miraculous trip to the CWS.
