Have $54 JSU single game tickets been discussed?

I almost choked when I saw that one. I'm pretty sure those tickets would have been half that much under the last administration. It's as if we're trying to generate revenue and/or give incentive for buying season tickets.

Also, 36,821 season ticket sales including students. Alltime record is 38,440 before the 2001 season.

Kudos to the AD for getting this info out in an email on a Friday evening as well.

I bought two extra with my reasonably priced season tickets. We have a new administration that may have realized we are in the SEC. Under Templeton, we would have seen $10 tickets and Croom coaching.

JSU actually has a decent road following so maybe this is so we can actually make some money off the JSU fans that want to see them play a SEC team. Apparently the Sonic Boom is doing a Michael Jackson Thriller tribute. I really hope that isn't the game our band is going to do a Michael Jackson Tribute.

any reason why the JSU game doesn't break the all-time attendance record. I know this isn't Bama or someone like that, but with it being Mullen's first game and possibly JSU buying every ticket that we don't sell to State fans, we should push the record in this one. JSU fans follow their football team and playing an instate SEC team should be like a bowl atmosphere to them.

to break the all-time record (56,188 vs Bama in 07) would be pretty hard to do at all let alone vs JSU.
Thats capacity + another 1,106.

Plus look at the simple math..IF we meet Mullens goal of 40k season ticket including the students.. you are assuming we are going to have 16k in walk up and JSU fans?
Thats a tall task for the MSU casual fan and JSU fan.

they packed MS Southern when playing down there and i bet they are much more excited to play an SEC team instate. it will be slammed and should be damn close to capacity at the minimum.

Not to worry. We have the trusty "Tribute to George Gershwin", complete with "Rhapsody in Blue".;

We've always done a smaller scale of that--I've never understood where all the walk up fans come EVERY week. When we had 34,000 season tickets sold and a bad team and playing a bad team, we would have games with 46,000 there. Where did those 12,000 fans come from? They're not from the even worse visiting team. Are there THAT many MSU fans that don't buy season tickets but decide that week they'll go see MSU vs Gardner Webb?

I do believe Valley-Alcorn in Memorial Stadium is the all-time record attendance for a football game in Mississippi....

But..that was also during the time when the Bulldog Club was not a priority as they are now under Greg Bryne.

Say there are the 40k season tickets..and compare it to the 34k then. where did those 6k come from. Are they new fans, or did they come out of the single game stat.
I still say we have about 8-10k walkup crowd with a base of 40k season. That puts us at 50k, and JSU brings 2500-4k, and I think the game is close to capacity but not a sellout..at about 53,500-54k

if true or not..and cant find any stats for attendance at memorial for records or such.
But I could believe that at one time, I think UM holds that honor now with the expansion now though. But don't know if thats correct or not..just assuming since they passed veterans with the last expansion.

I would think that was a JSU - Alcorn game rather than Valley - Alcorn. But, you're right. JSU could easily bring 10, 000 people.

to watch that passing attack in person. I've seen a few videos with all the stacked receivers and such. Must have been fun to watch. To anyone who knows: How do I remove this "nafoom" crap from my moniker?

I see what you mean. A lot of the previous walk up fans could be part of the new BDC growth, so you can't add them in twice. Good point.

We have a lot of fairweather fans (as do other schools). Our biggest crowds post-expansion occurred when we had a winning record in the last half of 2007. Many think we will have bigger crowds just due to having more offense. Some think that many fans just didn't like Croom and will now come back to Starkville. We may have a near-record or record crowd for JSU but if we don't beat Auburn or Vandy then our crowds will shrink again, regardless of how many points we score. Winning will bring more fans than Croom leaving, Mullen coming, or having a better offense. Having an exciting coach will add more to a winning team, but not as much to a losing one.

Imagine what crowds we could have with Mullen winning. We'd need expansion of CWS immediately. If Cohen can start winning and we had a big marketing push for selling more season tickets, we could be #1 in attendance nationally. Yep, higher than LSU's 9,200. Especially if we had incentives like renovation and expansion of DNF-PDS. Every SEC Saturday could have at least 11-12,000.

I don't know if I have ever enjoyed a half time show like I have Jacksonville St. Normally that is time to hit the pisser and grab a drink.
