Hell, let's be sure every head coach you'd want gets their chance to tell us to f@ck off.

Will be interesting to see how Byrne spins this. He's good, but he's going to have to do a helluva sales job to turn a Mullen into a "splash." Good luck with that.

Yes, I understand that Mullen is probably a good hire, especially for state. It just sucks when reality bitchslaps you. You throw upwards of $3 mill on the table and coaches making $900K tell you to f@ck off? Seriously? What the F is wrong with this picture?

First of all I don't think Byrne will have to spin anything since I don't think I have ever heard him use the word splash.

Second, you have no idea who has and hasnt turned us down. People freaking out because Petersen turned us down like he has everyone else in the country is ridiculous

And third, I would love to "settle" for one of the best OC's in the country

I still think Urban Meyer is the OC at Florida, no matter what Mullen's title is. Would I take him? Yea, but he wouldn't be in my top 10. Unfortunately, it's starting to look like MSU's Top 10 have told us to kiss off.

Edited to stop the pile-on.

"Unfortunately, it's starting to look like MSU's Top 10 have told us to kiss off. "

And how do you know this? We have one coach turn us down and everyone freaks out. State fans are stupid, whether it be the self defeatists or the group that thinks the world is ending when we don't hire one of the most sought after head coaches in the country. Aside from Petersen, who has turned us down?

He has been with Meyer for years now. I feel pretty confident he has something to do with the offense. And 10 coaches have turned us down? Really?

Thanks for the dose of reality. I just went from wooly to nearly bald this morning when I heard about Petersen (I've been away from civilization most of the weekend). We don't have a clue who said what yet, and I still have faith that Byrne is the anti-LT. I'm still iffy on Mullen though.

Over half the possible people on Byrne's top 10 probably would not seriously talk to anyone until this week.

If GB wanted to seriously interview Gil, Holtz, or Graham, he wouldn't have the chance to until after their championship games.

If he wanted to interview anyone on Florida or OU's staff, they wouldn't until after their conference championship games.

As far as we know, only one person has talked to Byrne beyond Neinas calling to get a feel for interest.

Its not like we have interviewed 4 or 5 people and they have said no. The list of people we know Neinas/GB has contacted so far 100% for sure (Mullen, Kelly, and Petersen) have all been solid options. I trust in the next week GB will interview and probably hire a quality mid-major HC or BCS coordinator. Give the man time to work.
