Have we ever had a QB on the Davey O'Brien watch list?

goes to show what an offensive genious and great QB coach Mullen is. I mean from day one nobody thought Relf would be anything. I mean who could blame us. He was being taught by crooms and woodys and running their system. I've also got to give Relf some props, too. He's really worked hard to be where he is.

I'm not surprised they had 6 QBs on the list. But you are right about these lists not being too exclusive.I counted 38 on the list. There's only 120 Div I-A teams.

I even remember telling an MSU friend of mine in 2009 after the Jackson State game that I liked the way Relf looked and thought he could be a pretty good QB.

I think he would be pretty bad in a pro style offense even if he had a great pro style coach. It's just a bad fit and doesn't utilize his two biggest assets, his speed and strength. He was very fortunate that Mullen took the MSU job and brought with him an offense that was a good fit for him.

Likewise, Tyler Russell seems to be struggling a good bit in the Mullen offense, but I think he could have a lot of success in a spread passing attack or possibly more of a pro style offense. There aren't many, if any, coaches out there that could coach a Tim Tebow style QB and a Matt Ryan style QB to success.

By the way, Cam Newton didn't make the Davey O'Brien watch list last year, and he ended up winning the award.

I asked Archie how the bear qb looked at their camp. His response? "Don't ask."

Archie said there were 2 QBs that stood out: Landry Jones and A.J. McCarron. He said Jefferson has improved.

Now run that back to the spirit and share with your bear brahs.
