Why was there a Colonel Reb at the State/LSU game? I saw a picture of the one that walks around the Grove- looked like the same guy.<div>

Yes, sorta. It was the same guy that shows up to Ole Miss games who looks like a real Col Reb. Nothing fake - just a old guy with the clothes and facial hair to fit Col Reb's image.
I know it wasn't fake- I saw him. Have a picture of it.<div>
</div><div>Just kinda thought it was weird he came to our game in it- like, the exact guy. Maybe because I never go to OM games and don't care to. I dunno. You'd think it'd just be someone else who was just poking fun and not some diehard.</div><div>
</div><div>When I saw him, I just figured he was some State fan taking a shot at them (or something).

All the rebels I know are extremely passionate and emotional about the colonel reb thing. Every one of them. Without exception. The ONLY rebel fans I have ever seen that claim "it's no big deal" or "it's time to move on" are from internet message boards.

say anything about a majority being for or against col reb, just that they were morons. This cannot be debated. We've known it for years. You're obviously just figuring it out, which only validates the point.

If you invent a lie and tell it often enough, people will start to belive it. I can't say the current Col Reb wasn't modeled after Blind Jim Ivey. But I'd say it's at least as likely that someone saw a picture of Ivey and said, hey, he looks a lot like Col Reb does so that means Col Reb was modeled after him as it is that Col Reb was actually modeled after him. Either way, the real point is that the original Col Reb and any other incarnations prior to the current one, were most definitelynot modeled after him in any way.

The national view on it is "racist slave owner from the 1800s". They want to claim "no its not, in fact it is modeled after this blind guy named Jim Ivey who just so happens to be a black man". Anyone with any intellectshould respond, Well why isn't he black? Do other schools model their bulldog mascots with a chihauhau? How about a Tiger with a Lion? Or perhaps a Longhorn with a goat? It has been said before that UM fans are quite delusional. I believe that notion can be applied to this theory.

I wonder if Jim even knew his picture was taken and used for the comparison. I suspect not.
