Haven't been a fan of Cross

Except for 3rd and short or 4th and short up the middle.

Last night he looked great! Loved watching him run.

I didn't understand why we put Newby in and kept running him up the middle out of the shotgun when we got to the goalline.

Let's hope Cross keeps it up and hope Iowa stays undefeated to set up another big win for us to become bowl eligable

Cross was fantastic. Really kept the offense balanced in the 1st half. I wanted more touches for Jano as well.

I've been unimpressed with him this season, but last night he was running like he was mad at the ground. Love it. Played reall really well.

I am just the opposite, I have been a Cross fan and felt going to him on a steady diet could have paid some dividends in a couple of games. He isnt the breakaway threat Newby is obviously.

I also think our OLine was simply opening up some really big holes last night. Are they finally gelling, or did moving Sterup inside make that much of a difference?

Cross was awesome last night. The O line did a nice job of opening up the lanes.

Hooker has it right. The difference last night was the Oline opened holes. Cross isn't quick to the hole, but is effective when the line gives him room to make 2 steps forward. Sterup and Gates made the line better and all of a sudden we have a running game which opens up the passing at the corners.

RB by committee isn't really a plan, it's a hope. Best back needs to stay in the game.

They played well; but in my opinion Newby is our worst at YAC against good teams. Cross is much better; makes a huge difference between 2nd an 4 and Newbys second and 8 - Not always and Newby is a talent; but Cross has flashed moves in the past; just not significant carries. Running the FB and Cross at a D; wears them out.

Could be a simple matter of sticking with the running game, especially the power game, and not jumping to the pass so quickly. Really happy for Imani. He has been a trooper.

I've always loved Cross but sometimes he gets lost after the handoff. Yesterday he ran with purposes. You also get why Gates and Sterup was praised by Riley.

I think cross is a good back if you use him in the correct manner. same with our fullback we haven't used for 3 years

Nice to see Cross get his due and have a chance to get a rhythm going. I've always thought he was vastly under-appreciated here. When he and Jano were in the game together it brought a whole different mentality.

I believe by keeping Newby in then MSU wasn't able to sub players in and out to get into their goal line defense. So we had the advantage, it just didn't work out the first 2 plays.

Cross and Jano as a combo is going to be tough on defenses. Having 2 guys that can run you over with Tommy and the Jet sweep to attack the outside is a great run game plan. I love that they moved Sterup into guard. He was mauling people last night, it made a huge difference in our ability to run the ball.

Cross SEES the hole
This. The O-line was better last night, but they have been opening holes in other games, it is just that Newby has a hard time deciding when and where to go. Cross even showed a little elusiveness when there were guys at his feet at the line of scrimmage. He brings some much needed aggression and passion to the team.

I have always been an Imani Cross fan. I think he has given us everything he has. He may not be the right running back in all situations, but Cross runs hard and gives his teammates his best. On our next to last TD last night I thought the first two plays up the middle from the 1 yard line run by Newby would have been better suited for Imani
