I wonder if this victory was enjoyable for coach Overton and his team? How fun was it for Edison? How much fun will it be for Fairfax, knowing they’ll probably be playing a playoff game in name only?

Hayfield will probably go on and win a state title. But rest assured it’ll be tainted…having an asterisk. The Hayfield AD going on a “sabbatical” says it all.

But I hope all involved with Hayfield enjoy the state title. Most everyone knows how you got it, not earned it.

A few years ago St. Frances Academy in Baltimore took the same route. They were eventually kicked out of their conference. Of course they are a private school.

Hayfield is public, so that probably won’t happen. But their future opponents can elect not to play them. Either that or deliberately slow the game down.

Either way, Hayfield’s state title will be tainted, as well as their program, as long as those who were responsible for creating this mess remain at the school and/or the school district.

Nothing’s proven? Perception is everything and right now Hayfield doesn’t have a good look.

So would the state title be tainted if he stayed at Freedom with this team? Because this the Freedom team with a transfer Qb and WR. Would this same outrage be happening if DO never fell out with Freedom’s administration and stayed there?

yes because the did the same with the kids at Freedom and what got him in hot water was continuing to do the same at his current school. The question I would like to ask is why does controversy follow him wherever he goes...the problem cant always be everyone else. Where theres smoke there is fire.

Shhhhhh......we can't interject "good, solid, sound reasoning" into this discussion. Everyone wants to talk about how great he his as a coach...cool....then coach the hand you're dealt, homegrown kids. If the results are the same, we'll build that bronze statue and anoint him as the greatest ever.
The timeline SPELLS it out. Denial doesn't make it go away. I hope they feel good about ringing that bell....all they're doing is creating more animosity for the complete disregard for the integrity, sportsmanship and responsibility that he should be teaching these young student athletes. RING THAT BELL....THIS YEAR. I don't know where he's going to be next year. Maybe Warwick? And bring his hired hands...beat down the P by 50? I wonder if the Phoebus faithful would still be OK with his "style"?

I think it would’ve been some outrage eventually, freedom doesn’t naturally have all the much participation in football as you can see this year with DO leaving. It would’ve been obvious that those players weren’t from around there. DO own words is that they didn’t actually have enough players for a jv team, so how come you’re able to consistently have all this talent to beat all these teams by 40, 50, 60pts a game. That’s why a lot people outside of NOVA was interested to see what he’s plan was after last season or after his nephew graduated

lol, it’s definitely not over. A Hayfield administrator literally just stepped away from the job. It ain’t because of his wife’s job, I can tell you that with certainty.

It is done but, I doubt anybody believes it is over and, more importantly, the repercussions and damage to FCPS as an entity will linger for a while. There is a difference between crying about something and keeping the focus on the problem until the issue that created the problem is addressed and fixed versus allowed to be swept under the rug..

Dec 4 the judge brings both parties back to the court room. This can go either way & there's still another investigation that'll occur. This is far from over. It only takes one person to spill the beans & expose what really happened. That person is losing a lot of sleep right now & trying to decide what's best. It may not come out right away but it will. The hawks are just hoping it'll be after Dec 14th.

Controversy follows because they’re cocky and say things like Hayfield by 40. They gained a lot of enemies

You keep pushing this bizarre hypothetical about him bringing 24 players three hours away to Warwick, but let’s be real—none of that even remotely makes sense. You claim to be adding ‘good, solid, sound reasoning,’ yet your argument is more about stirring drama than dealing in facts. It’s clear you’re just talking to talk.

A big difference at Freedom is they had been good for some years with Overton at HC before they exploded those last 2 years. They even lost a state championship in 2018. I'm sure people looked at Freedom as more of a gradual(and legal) buildup so it doesn't look as crazy as what's happened at Hayfield. Also a big point in them moving was Hayfield had more talent in the school he could work with. They said Freedom was unsustainable because of the changing demo in the area. So while they were getting guys in the specialty center they didn't have a lot to work with after that. To me if they just would've stayed patient and not been in such a win now mode this wouldn't have spiraled out of control.

Probably not as much. The problem now is it's so blatantly obvious. That's the problem he currently has.

Is it that far fetched? The reason you're completely fine with this situation is a couple of reasons.... they're D6 and you're D4 and the likelihood of DO and his hired hands moving to the 757... highly unlikely. It doesn't have a direct impact on the Phoebus dynasty. I don't expect it to bother you. Actually, I fully expect you to support Hayfield and DO's recruiting tactics because once that proverbial cherry is busted, it clears a path for Phoebus and other teams to do exactly the same. Some of us are old enough to remember where some of the more stellar Phantoms started their playing careers. It wasn't Hampton...in some cases.
Good solid reasoning comes with playing the part of the devil's advocate. You have to shake that coconut tree sometimes to get what you want. No need to take it personally...I've been a Phoebus fan for decades. I'm old enough to remember when EVERYONE scheduled y'all for Homecoming....
I'm not wrong about anything I've posted... just struck a nerve that hit hard... it's all good.

Nobody is impressed. Fraudulent champs. The rings at Freedom have an asterisk as well. Will be remembered for nothing but cheating.

They had players from all over the state on that Freedom team as well. The QB lived over an hour away in Spotsylvania.
