HC finishes 9-0 for the first time since 2004 and is the WSS champ.

A couple notes on the game: HC led 7-0 going into the 4th quarter. OPRF scored on a read option after a shanked punt, but surprisingly went for two. They didn't get it. HC answered with a 73yd TD run and so went up 14-6. OPRF came back and scored late in the game and failed to convert the 2pt'er again. After a 40ish yd HC run got called back for a hold, OPRF used their last timeout. On a 2nd and 19 with about 3 mins to play, Bean broke a 75yd touchdown run to seal the deal.

A couple notes on HC heading into the 8A field: HC is a very disciplined team. They play at a solid tempo and it doesn't fluctuate. Their defense bends but rarely breaks and their run game keeps defenses honest. Bean is a patient runner. It's fun to watch him let plays develop on QB keepers, and then find a hole. He also makes good decisions throwing the ball. They'll be a tough out in 8A. Edit: HC is likely going to be the #2 seed in 8A.

Do you think HC is going to jump HF for the 2 seed?
Hinsdale Central sitting on 40 playoff points with an extral point from DGS expected later today. HF sitting on 39 points with another coming most likely today from DGS. Palatine has 40 points too, and is tied with HF on the tie breaker (defeated opponent wins) with 36 (assuming DGS wins). Palatine could jump both schools if DGS loses today.

First off, congrats on a great season. No shame in losing the conference title to Bean and the boys. Bean runs a lot like Riley Lees did. His patience then burst is special. He might be a 1/2 step behind Lees' blistering speed but not much more.

It looked like you guys were missing a key receiver last night. Hope he gets better soon because he adds a dimension that will keep teams from loading the box.

I'm not gonna lie, I wanted a rematch at Duchon in round 2 as Soucie posted earlier. That bracket had Taft as 1st round for GW so I don't feel bad about talking 2nd round.

Now that it looks like NV for GW in round 1, I will keep my mouth shut.

Congrats on WSS. Huge accomplishment

Thanks cap. You're right about a WR being out, #27. I'm not sure what his status is, but I'm hoping he'll be back for round 1. It would have been an epic rematch at Duchon, but I'm definitely not complaining!

So it looks like we're gonna see how the WSS matches up against the DVC--LT-NN, HC-WV and GBW-NV.

Good luck with WV. They looked like they had a similar scheme to HC so prep should be easy. How about we actually have a year where all four WSS teams advance. We might be able to flip the narrative on all the "DVC is the greatest" talk.

Capn,

If the pairings come out the way Souc has them and I don't see how they can't.

Naperville North beats LT, I wasn't a believer during the summer or as far along as week 4 but I had to admit to a few North fans that I was wrong. The addition of the new OC and two pretty good transfers from St Francis certainly helped needed depth and talent.

I beIleve that Waubonsie Valley is over matched by Hinsdale Central and while I'd love to see a bunch of friends kids make another deep run in the playoffs I'm doubtful they keep it within 10.

Neuqua Valley v GBW is my coin flip but if Neuqua plays to its ability should offensively run away with this game. If the Neuqua offense plays to its strengths and the defense is conservatively stingy it will make for a long day in South Naperville. I would plan on a night game and wouldn't be surprised if they go for Friday. If there is rain in the forecast bring your 2" cleats the Neuqua field will make Duchon(at its worst) seem like playing on turf!

What's your prediction JWar ?

We won't play Friday, that I can gauranty. Traveling team picks the day and GW likes Saturday. So if it is Saturday night it will be fun.

I might agree that NN looks hotter than LT right now and HC streamrolls WV.

Meh... sticks and stones:);)

Two things could change the narrative

1 If the coaching staff makes a couple of adjustments on defense
2. If WV Jeckel shows up (the one that protects the rock and limits penalities)

If not - yeah would be a long nite at HC

Sorry Voodoo, I meant no disrespect. I watched WV with great interest last night because Souc had me thinking they were key to keeping GW in 7A. Maybe it was the lighting or the turf, but WV didn't look very fast. HC is pretty special right now.

That QB, Bean plays a very calm football game. I wasn't kidding when I compared him to Riley Lees. Lees always seemed to run at 50-75% speed until he saw a hole, then a burst and everyone chasing. Bean does that with maybe a better oline than Lville had.

The HC defense has played lights out since halftime of the GW game. They were missing their stud LB and still held OPRF scoreless for three quarters. If he comes back, look out. He is #5 in the middle and he goes sideline to sideline and blows up slow developing plays.

Good luck to you guys next week. You have your hands full.

No offense taken;) you are spot on!! WV did not look good last nite and if they don't make a few adjustments and also bring their A game it will be a long nite down in Hindsdale.
