I think the bigger question is whether you have a good season, or indeed take that next step. Which would begin by beating any West team not named Ole Miss for the first time in the Mullen era.

I was hoping for another article the quality of the one he wrote in the Oxford Eagle. Maybe I gave him too much credit, but I thought that Oxford Eagle article was a hilarious & genius way of making fun of both fan bases.

But this article was... worthless.... for anyone. I assume he is covering OM but I'm not sure if he even mentioned them. He basically wrote an marital update.... for a football magazine. Needless to say, I was let down. I hope that article got him some major *** from his wife cause it sure doesn't do **** for a sports fan readers.

There's a lot more pressure on us than usual. We have high expectations and a killer schedule. Everybody is picking us to beat last year's NC in our second game. Then we get LSU less than a week later.

To me, this is a hard season to predict. I am worried about the o-line. I'm worried that AU, even tho inferior on paper, has that intangible that comes with glory. I'm sure Ole Miss will be better, and that's another one everybody is picking us to win. I hope we can at least win the games we're picked to win (eight or so) but I don't think many seasons roll exactly as planned. Hopefully, we'll beat Alabama and LSU and do even better than predicted. But I'm very open-minded this season because I have no idea how it's going to go.

On a slightly different subject, I hate having two Thursday games, which I think should be banned to protect University environments, early in the season. At least one of them is an away game, thanking the Lord for a small favor. But that LSU game is going to suck if it goes as predicted. If we pull an upset, well, I'll take that any day of the week . . .

But HD6, I very much appreciate the historical perspective because lifer dawg fans like me hate it when people forget what led us to where we are now. Very good work imo.

but it's still asking a lot of a "next step" moment here in season three. I think it is possible but I'm not counting on it. The West is just brutal! No matter what anyone says about them it's not an easy schedule when your East rotating teams are USC at the top of their game and Georgia. We were a few lucky breaks away from 10-2 last year but lady luck is a real *****. I want us to make it to a bowl, I'm not expecting the breakout moment this year. It would be nice though....

If we can beat 3 SEC West teams this year, then I will call that a Big step in the right direction...
