Tomorrow afternoon on CBS radio. Before all the Rome hate squad comes out, realize that this is good national exposure. Rome doesn't do many college coach interviews so this is a cool thing

So how long do we have to wait before all this "national exposure" has blue chip recruits swimming to the boat? All these interviews and Thursday night games should at least translate to a bears-style recruiting championship, right?

Love Rome. Listen to him everyday. Pretty big deal. He usually doesn't do interviews with college coaches unless there is something big going on with them at the time.

no, no, no Robbie. The numbers CLEARLY show that Tuesdays for interviews....

of Mississippi State coaches are slightly better than interviews for Thursdays. This is what I really DON'T understand about Sixpack sometimes. People like to CLAIM things that they KNOW nothing about. And then I have to get on here and write messages about FACTS and when I do this I need a lot of EMPHASIS by capitalizing entire words. Otherwise no one GETS it.

I hope he avoids saying some of the weird sh*t he said in this other interview. I got pilloried before for saying his early signing ideas made me think he was lazy, but I found the link. http://www.ajc.com/weblogs/college-recruiting/2013/feb/27/sec-coach-supports-new-recruiting-rules/ Any coach who thinks the NCAA will support an early signing period in a recruit's junior year--and he can't even take an OV until after he commits, comes off as clueless or nuts. It would be interesting to know if Rome has heard about this.

A conversation with Engie about tater tots

Bob: I like tater tots. They are tasty.

Engie: WHAT!? False. Tater tots are NOT the best food in the world. I don’t care HOW many times you say it. You’re just WRONG.

Bob: Um, I didn’t say tater tots are the best food in the world. I just said I myself happen to like them. I understand that others may feel differently.

Engie: Dude, I just DON’T see how you can SIT there and KEEP saying tater tots “are the BEST food in the world.” Apparently YOU have NO appreciation for mathematical FACTS and incontrovertible STATISTICS. But HERE, allow me to present a SIMPLE spreadsheet demonstrating that I’m RIGHT and you’re WRONG:

MOST BESTEST FOODS IN THE WORLD

1. Steak
2. Pasta
3. Barbecue
4-123. Not tater tots
124. Tater tots

See, you CAN’T even argue that tater tots are the BEST.

Bob: Ok, I would prefer to stop speaking to you now because you’re twisting everything I say to suit your own agenda. Goodbye.

Engie: HA, I just totally DESTROYED you. Tater tots will NEVER be the best. Do you know HOW I know THIS. DO YOU? It’s HISTORICAL fact! Do you even KNOW about the Irish POTATO Blight of the 1840s, which wreaked untold destruction and STARVATION in Ireland? DO YOU? Tater tots have NEVER been a TOP TEN food, so they NEVER will be. . . Now pardon me while I hump my abacus.

I pity you, just like all the others that love to listen to this dbag.
He is a cliche of a lowest common denominator's idea of good sports talk and entertainment.

Rome drives around in the Wiggles' Big Red Car with Dick Vitale, Stephen A Smith, Colin Cowherd, and Skip Bayless.

Cowherd being listed in the group is asinine. Rome is a blow hard sure but both he and Colin are no where near the ignorance of Stephen or Skip Bayless. Dickie V is just a crazy old man. Take pity.

So whats the easiest way to catch this from the Hattiesburg area? A.M radio? I haven't listened to Jim Rome in awhile but enjoyed his stuff on occasion. You either get the guy or you dont. The "Softball Guy" rant is pretty funny.

Its a douchemobile. Regardless of who is the biggest douce, they are all douches.
Cowherd is tactless. From getting lit up by Foster on Twitter for Cowherd's dumb injury comment to his role of taking a position that is just stupid and arguing it to the end- he is a doucher.

Thing is, from what I have read about him, we share a lot of views in life...its just that he expresses himself in an awful way.

Hattiesburg doesn't get Rome anymore as far as I know. We used to before he moved to CBS. He was on 1400 AM. Now, we get the pleasure of listening to some comedian run a sports talk show.

Aw come on, Mullen has a wittle bit of that BS thing goin. Remember: 1) we don't talk about injuries, 2) we'll never lose to this team again, 3) we dominated the recruiting in-state the yr that OM signed 8 of the DD, etc

^^^ I PLAYED JUCO BASEBALL !!!111

I'm confused -- is this supposed to be a cut down in some way? The extent of your obsession with me is becoming more and more hilarious. You literally can post(and obviously think) about nothing else.

If this isn't dead on from the attendance thread, I don't know what is.

Agreed

Looking back at the thread today, I shouldn't have gone after you and singled you out like I did. I apologize for that. I was guilty of some of the very things I was accusing you of in that thread...

Good interview. Discussed the difficulty of playing in the SEC, but that's how Mullen likes it because he's a competitor and he wants to compete against the best. When Rome asked if it was a good sign that fans weren't satisfied with an 8-5 season he agreed, saying no one would be more discouraged with losing a game than he would. Said that the 7-0 transition to 1-5 last season can be attributed to 18 to 22 year olds getting a little complacent at winning and then not being able to handle a knock in the mouth. That, and playing Bama, A&M and LSU in a row isn't good for anyone's schedule. Discussed him being a proponent of the unlimited texting rule to recruits, because these are how kids communicate now, 17 year olds don't talk on the phone, they text.

Talked about Ole Miss's recruiting, and while he acknowledged the great job their staff did, we got the #1 player in the State and that we'll see how these classes are 4 years down the road. Ended with an "I'm out" which Jim loved. Rome racked him and took some tweets/emails from State fans. Rome liked the interview and I thought it was well done.

Pretty good interview by Dan. Rome has a lot of inside jokes/sayings on his show that only a regular listener would know. Dan dropped a few on Rome. Rome appreciated it. Someone either prepped Dan or Dan listens to the show. Probably the first. Good job by our athletic department.
