"what if game". I think we Msu fans are saying we outplayed a more talented Lsu team but we came up a few inches short. The difference was obvious, Lsu made bigger plays and capitalized on Msu's mistakes better. Experience has a way of having better luck and that was the reason Lsu won.
Not sure about Arkansas being ahead of Msu, a tie for 8th should be the worse.

They are going to have a record that does not reflect how much better they are because of their schedule. 5-7 with State's or Arkansas' schedule is equal ro 8-4 with Ole Miss', in my opinion.

my head too from an LSU perspective...but i will say I saw a much improved State team yesterday. That's undeniable. You guys competed hard and that's something you haven't really been able to say about an LSU v MSU game since the late 90s.

You can't judge Arky just yet . They got manhandled by Bama, but I think they are improved as a team. As I said before, the next few weeks will be interesting for the middle of the pack. Bama and Florida are clearly the cream right now and I think everyone is agreement there.

Defense gave up 17 pts and played a ton of minutes. I'm okay with the defense compared to the O-Line.
Please compare Auburn and LSU's offensive totals vs State.

defensive points to State. But State couldn't consistently move the ball against Auburn. Check out the offensive totals in the two games. State's offensive line had their way with the LSU DL.

Prediction: Miles falls apart this year and is either fired at the end of this season or halfway through the next.

It was a bad game for the Tigers and offensive play calling better improve. I still think overall LSU is a better team than Auburn. I won't use how teams play against State as the metric of how they should be ranked. Auburn couldn't stop WVA on defense the whole game either. WVA doesn't necessarily come across a powerhouse this year either. Apparently the rest of America is not on Aubbie's bandwagon yet too. Flabloser you may prove us wrong, but I'm not ready to jmp on that ship yet. I have moved Auburn up very far from where they were and gave them a lot of credit. They did play State in prime time at home on a dry field. I have a feeling LSU would have opened it up more than they showed on a dry surface but I'm not going to make that as an excuse.

however, WVA is nothing great and they ran up and down the field all over Auburn in their house. LSU's defense played very well in the two games prior to State and had an average game against MSU if their offense had done anything all day. It was a bad game for the Tigers but I am not ready to move them down b/c of the MSU game alone. Not to mention we played State at their house at 11 am (which LSU always stinks it up at that time), the conditions were poor, and Auburn was at night, at Jorden-Hare on a dry field. Rain is a great equalizer and I don't care if you disagree with that or not.

Now do I think this is an overpowering LSU defense - NO I don't. But I do think they aren't as bad as you guys think it is.

minus 30 yards game on that snap that went through the punter's hands. However, we stunk it up running the ball. The O-Line which I referenced in Cream Talk stinks right now.

manhandled your offensive front all day. OM, AU, Bama, and UF is going to give your offense fits in the running game. I knew that LSU fans were going to say well our offense was off, maybe it's because our defense is that good against the run. Outside of LaFell, your wideouts are no better then anyone else's. You guys are going to lose at least 3 games this year.

in recruiting. I do believe there is hope to turn the ship around at LSU, but believe it or not - i think Crowton could be the scapegoat this year. He has called very vanilla offensive game plans and has failed to use who I consider LSU's best running attack in Russell Shepard with any consistency. The O-Line needs a coach's boot up their asses, too. Unacceptable

State shoved it down their throat the entire game except when State needed it most. Props to LSU on the goal line...but other than that they suck. The LSU D had no sacks and got run all over. LSU will lose to Georgia, Auburn, Florida, Alabama and probably Ole Miss. So, here's to 4-4 or maybe even 3-5 and Mile's *** hotter than ever.

I'm just sayin'. We did what we had to do to win the game. Just like every other LSU team I watch play at 11 am, we sucked it up. I am not denying it. I love that we can suck it up and still beat MSU playing their hearts out too.

Auburn and Georgia are placed where they are in week 4.

We will see if there is any maneuvering in october. Thanks for your input and enjoy future Cream Talks.

the 1st game and yes we played a bend but don't break style of defense...that's what Chavis is known for. UW also had twice the number of plays and our defense again scored a pick 6. The defense played much better the next two games. I hope they improve as each week passes on.

can achieve at LSU as a head coach and call it "your" success. At LSU, a head coach in football is just that, another hc at a school that has tradition. We can pay the big money if pressed to do so, but a successful hc at MSU can truly be considered a great hc, because the tradition would be created by that individual. Not the case at LSU which is already considered a national power. Why does everyone love/hate Saban, because he is a great coach that recreated or created the power that is LSU football. Les Miles is living proof that you don't have to be a great coach to be successful at LSU, you just have to be the hc.

you dont' think he would go. I do agree it would be tough to leave after 1 year though. Usually coaches want to build the resume' up some. The only guy I know to jump ship fast was the HC for Tulsa who was at Rice and he took a lot of heat for it.
