Heard a horrible, filthy, disgusting rumor today

from a co-worker close to the JSU band. (meaning his has a son in it, and he follows it like it was football)

The Sonic Boom will not be performing at MSU. Not enough tickets. It was JSU's call and they sold the tickets to alumni/fans rather than giving tickets to the band.

Anyone else hear anything?

I've seen their band and just didn't like it. I can easily see why JSU would rather sell tickets than give them away to the band though.

The only reason my mom was coming to this game is because of the band...please tell me this is not true.

Seriously. I mean what the hell else is there to get excited about opening with Jackson St other than the Sonic Freakin Boom?

but apparantly they had too many big alumni that wanted to be at the game for historic reasons. We only gave them 2000 tickets. Their band would have used 20 percent of them.

against any random Division I-AA team. The main reason I was excited about this game was the Sonic Boom. Now, it's no different if we were playing Southeast Louisiana.

I saw something on Facebook and saw the guy in the hall. Asked him about it and he told me that was what they were hearing. Don't worry though - band report day at JSU is August 8 and "two-a-days" begin August 10. By then we should know for sure.

Yes, that came out of someone's mouth when talking about band.

You are like Agent Rupert Johnson and Agent Alan Ward about all things involving this game with JSU.

Only thing their band does different than anyone else is hump their instruments.

for none other reason that I do not want to hear **** from JSU fans - "MSU's band just didn't want to get their *** beat" "MSU is racist," etc.

Everytime they come talking about how they are going to beat us on the football field, its followed closely by Sonic Boom smack. I guess I do not understand the HBCU culture that "halftime is gametime"

They seem upset when I tell them quite honestly that I do not care about the band. I will be taking a piss hopefully talking to my next door piss partner about how good the offense looks.

that bringing the JSU band to MSU was in the contract? Maybe I'm wrong. I thought that was a big reason why this game was put on the docket.

And to any JSU fan- I'd much rather have a ****** band and win 70-0 than "win halftime".

Besides, band contests are all about subjectivity. Some people like JSU. Some people, like me like Jacksonville State.

And I would much rather watch Phantom Regiment's show that won DCI last year- Spartacus. It was badass. Or as badass as a band show could get.

surely this isn't true, they talk all that band smack and don't even show up? Lame. I have to be honest I was looking forward to it. How many tickets is JSU allotted? How many tickets does the band require?

That is probably the most hardcore thing I have ever heard.. Raises the question has a band leader or conductor or whatever the hell they are called ever been investigated for recruiting violations. "We gotta land this sick tuba player from Iowa. I heard him play flight of the bumble bee and it blew my mind. His brother is a very mediocre harpist but it's a package deal."

The equation is pretty simple. I-AA opponent + in-state opponent who will bring fans to the game = good deal for MSU.

a certain amount has to be allotted to the band, or pep band.

That said, I don't know if that's a conference thing, or how that's decided. Personally, I wouldn't be surprised if they were mentioned at least from a ticket/profit standpoint. If JSU is alloted 5,000 tickets, or whatever and 250 are taken up by their band, that's a pretty good chunk of money.
