It was Bridges and his dad choice to prep all along before coming to WVU. They want to walk in and stand out, start. The extra year will be huge. Bridges in 2020 will be a splash recruit. He probably will get offers that will make Huggins very nervous. He’s freaking 6-7 legit and can shoot, score inside and out. He dunks all over the place and is long and tall. He may end up 6-9.
Also Bridges and his dad have been to several WVU games this year taking advantage of the cheap tickets lol from the losing. Huggins needs to tell him to forget the prep year and come in now. Dump off Doomes and someone else if he has to. He could always redshirt Bridges if he wanted too. If he comes he won’t redshirt because he’s too good. Bridges will eventually beat out Mathews at some point. Bridges is better than both Mathews and West right now. West needs gone anyway. He needs to go. Free up that scholarship for someone better. Mathews and Bridges could be our small forwards next year.
Dobbs may take preferred walkon spot at WVU. He should prep and use an extra year to get better, develop skill set. He’s a D1 guard. A redshirt at WVU would be great for him. He can help WVU down the road but Huggs should develop him with a redshirt. Go watch Dobbs in the state tournament next week. He has D1 offers and that list will grow after state tourney.
They planned on prep year way back over a year ago. They know the extra year will allow him to walk in and start at high D1. He’s ready to play and be in rotation next year at WVU. He may crack starting lineup by January next year. Bridges is real deal and already has added strength, size. He’s working with a trainer as well on core and strength. He’s filling out adding size already without slowing down. He is currently legit 6-7 and probably grows to 6-8 or 6-9. He won’t stop growing. Can shoot the 3 or drive, dunk, finish. 7-0 wing span.

Announced August 27 2018 - Jalen Bridges received his offer from WVU. Bridges is expected to prep a season after completing his senior year at Fairmont HS. He is expected to accept the offer and be part of the 2020 Class. Bridges was a teammate of Oscar Tshiebwe this past summer.

Bridges released the following statement on Twitter:
“After talking with my family, my coaches, my trainers, and close family friends, we’ve came to a decision that we think is best for me and my future. I would like to say thank you to all of the coaches that have recruited me throughout this process. With that being said, I’m excited to announce that following this season at Fairmont Senior, I will be reclassifying to the class of 2020 and attending the prep school that I choose. Without God, this wouldn’t be even possible. Thank you.”
Bridges camp planned on prep year 2 years ago. It’s all about being able to walk in and impact as a older true freshmen after prep year. Bridges will be too good for prep year but wow he will be a impact freshmen for 2020 class.

Look at who we recruit year in year out. If Lamont West, Doomes, Wes Harris were from WV they never would have been offered or recruited. Remember we redshirted the slow, skinny, unathletic goofy Lamont West 4 years ago and he has started and seen the floor an aweful lot. He isn’t a D1 player either. You must think you have to be Zion Williamson to play here. Dumbass.
WVUFANFOREVER c’mon WVU recruits plenty of guys over the years who are not very good and most are out of state stiffs that have no business getting a scholarship at this level. If many of these players were from WV they never would have been offered or recruited hard. Go look up our rosters from year to year and see the losers we recruit too often and give scholarships to. Lots of D2 players have received scholarships here over the years. Go look it up. Last year Bender, DAngelo Hunter, Wes Harris had no business getting D1 scholarships. Look up previous years it’s bad. Lots of scrubs.
WV kids get screwed often. We hit on some out of staters but miss on plenty too. That’s how it goes often. Also players transfer, quit more than ever. If you think Bridges won’t eventually start or crack the rotation here your totally lost and clueless. Horton is a walk on and he saw the floor as a true freshmen without knowing offense or sets. He will play more minutes next year if he sticks around. Dobbs will see the floor here if (if he stays 2-3 years) he gives it time but he isn’t as high end as Bridges. Bridges is top level D1. He will start a WVU at some point. Playing at WVU isn’t the like NBA. You don’t have to be a NBA All Star to play at WVU and D1. Bridges will start at WVU at some point. David Early will help WVU. Bigtime scorer. Obinna Killen will play at WVU if he comes.

We don’t need to recruit anybody else except Bridges. Go with Oscar, McBride and Bridges and shut it down. Keep the roster intact and hopefully Konate returns for a national title caliber year next year.

We’re set at the 1-2-3 spots for next year. Oscar, Culver, Routt, Gordon gives us for big guys with experience and if Konate returns it’s a legit Final 4 team.
