Might be transferring to MSU. Mullen may have ties with him since he's from Florida, and I believe he set two career passing records in the state of FL. He's very mobile too, but didn't really get a chance to show it in that offense. He was a redshirt frosh this year, so he'd have two years to play after he sits out unless we put him out there for a play and magically generated an injury to grant a medical redshirt.
Things could get interesting on the QB front if this happens and all the rumblings w/ Cotton, although I don't know if either will end up here.

I guess i'm failing to see how the addition on Dan Mullen all of a sudden makes us the top school for quarterbacks? I know Russell was interested with Croom, but all this talk over the past few days about these "top notch" quarterbacks seems a little premature.

My initial thought was he'd be a good fit for MSU. I don't know how that would sit w/ Russell.

If I recall correctly, he was committed to Bama and Shula and opened his recruitment back up after the staff was let go. Didn't he consider us after Mike's Crooming before settling on Miami?

Per the Miami Herald:
"UM quarterback Robert Marve, who had a good relationship with Nix, also is expected to leave the program. Florida, Tennessee and LSU are among the top options for Marve." I'm betting he heads up to UT and kicks Nick Stephens in the face.

If the kids worth a damn, and wants to come, you damn right we take him. We've had a hundred QB's in my lifetime that we were worried about running from competition, and I'm kinda tired of it.

Bring him on....if Russell can't beat him out, isn't that a good thing ?

is he a fr or so this year, if he's a sophomore, I think that's a lot of hassle to have him one year after his transfer especially if russell turns out good. however, injuries happen and a great backup is always a good thing (i.e.: matt cassel)

He was a RS Freshman. He was slated to start the 2007 season as a true Freshman from day one but suffered injuries in a car accident that required the RS.

CORAL GABLES _ Just got off the phone with Eugene Marve, the father of quarterback Robert Marve. Eugene Marve said the Hurricanes released Marve from his transfer, but only under certain stipulations. According to the father, Marve can't transfer to another SEC, ACC or in-state school. It eliminates any chance of Marve, who is from Tampa, playing in the Southeast.

he was not very good this year, and was not going to be the starter next year, at least that's what everyone says.

He had more touchdowns than Ints too. They wanted him to be the main QB, he just never could do it;.

to have more TDs than INTs. It might create more excitement than our fanbase can take given the last 5 years.

believe that it was mostly the fans saying he wasn't going to be the starter next year, not the coaches. and while state isn't really in the position to pick and choose who we want at qb, this guy seems to have some problems. he was suspended the very first game of the year and the bowl game and doesn't seem very committed to making himself better. now maybe with coach34's help, we could turn him around, but who knows.

Unless the terms of his transfer change, then he isnt going to ANY SEC team. His transfer agreement says he cant go to anywhere in the ACC, the SEC, or any school in Florida. If that doesnt change, then he isnt coming here.

keep him from going anywhere.

All they can do is restrict him from being on scholarship during his 'sit out' year.

every time a somewhat quality D-I player transfers, he's automatically coming to state. Maybe his parents will buy a house at Old Waverly!

Thats where someone says that he was looking at MSU.

Marve hasn't said it himself.

I've watched him a few times and he wasn't that impressive. Miami fans aren't really that sad to see him go. Apparently he has an overbearing father too.

Also heard Cameron Newton, UF's former 5 star QB recruit, is looking to come to MSU, maybe through JUCO first. He got arrested this fall and was indefinitely suspended, and his status is up in the air now.
If he ends up at MSU, he'd be the most physically talented QB ever to set foot on campus, the kid is huge w/ a huge arm.
