On KIX 106 in Memphis they have Confession Wednesday and this lady confessed she altered her sons birth certificate and he is 19 years old playing football but his birth certificate says he's 17. She did this in hopes to make sure he could get a scholarship to play college football and she says he is a high profile player and has been offered a ship. Have any of you heard of a parent doing this and is this a common practice?

Of course she didn't release any names or schools but if she really did this, you would think someone would eventually find out. That means should would have to have altered his shot records too I would think.

i've heard of parents holding their kids back to start school at 6 instead of 5, or holding them back in 8th grade.. haven't heard of altering birth certificates, but not surprised that it happens.

my thought is that if a high school player is going to be high profile because of an altered b.c.. chances are, he probably would have been if it had not been altered

before he ever started school was the way I understood it in hopes he would be a good player one day. Maybe someone else heard it this morning too and can chime in. I caught the tail end of the deal but the DJ's on KIX were going off and couldn't believe a parent would do such a thing.

If it didn't work out at lest he would have the biggest penis in the 5th grade.

When I glanced over this the first time I assumed it was done recently... but when the kid was basically a todder??? I'm totally intrigued/perplexed now.

Is there a link to this story? I have so many questions:

- How did she even come up with this idea? Was the dad an athlete? Was she?
- what sport?
- Where is the scholarship? Diviison 1 (or 1A? whatever major college sports are classified as now)
- Is the kid fully aware that he is 2 years older? Or did she leave him in the dark to keep it completely secret? I imagine that could royally Rule17 with a developing kids head.
- Again, what spawned this idea? Did she plan this ever since birth? Or was it something that she did kinda spur of moment when the kid was supposed to start school?
-When did her regret set in? was it within a year or two, but she felt it was too late to come clean?

When I played football in Middle School, I remember one game we played Hardy and it was really just the Provine JV team. It was like the scene out of Necessary Roughness where they play the prison team. Good God I think they beat us 80-0.... then they all got in their respective cars and went to pick their children up from day care.

It is football but didn't name player, high school or college. Not sure if her son knows his age or not, but my guess is he does. They are playing the system to their advantage for sure. If he does get caught while he's in college, I wonder if he would lose his scholarship? If he is really a bad *** player, would the college sweep under the rug and let him continue to play? Lots of questions could be asked. For sure his high school would have to forfeit all their wins due to playing an ineligible player.

or an age limit......at least no rule I'm aware of. Military vets come back and start college schollys at 22 all the time... Who was that LB/DE we had several years ago? I can't believe I'm losing my mind as much as I am. Also on that note, I remember an ESPN story about some 50 year old man trying out to play football for some team cause he had 1 year of eligibility left from 30 or so years prior, although a scholly wasn't in the picture (just to point out that there is no age limit for college athletics, just amateur status)

So I don't see a coach having a problem with a kid coming in at 19 for their freshmen year versus 17-18. Hell, he already has 20-30 19-year-olds on his team already....unless they have problems with it morally, but from the little we know at this time, it seems to be totally on his mom and you shouldn't punish the kid....Errr...MAN.

and he'll be 21 as a freshman in college. I call that a win.

Seriously though, I know tons of people held back one year, is two really that much worse?

being 2 years more developed physically. Imagine his complete pee-wee domination being a future scholly-worthy football player AND 2 years older than his peers.

The strangeness is not pinned on the kid..... but the mother's motives and actions when he was 3-4 years old (assuming that age since it was before he ever started school) is 17-ing "straight-jacket", child-services, crazy ****.
