Heard the little guy is leaving at Christmas break.

Interesting - how solid you think the source is?

I would think he might at least go through Spring practice to see his status unless he already thinks the staff likes Dak more than him.

I'm sure with Russell starting this weekend, Favre is realizing he'll probably never beat Russell out and then he's got Prescott on his heels a year behind him. I just hope he doesn't beat our *** in 2014.

Russell is most likely going to start next year, and Dak will see time as well, so I can see why Favre would want to transfer. However, if he does, we could be screwed at QB. Plenty of schools have had two QBs injured in a season before. ( see Florida this year)

Mini-Favre won't transfer to Southern; they have several young QBs they seem to be high on. I think he would head to ULL or MGCCC.

maybe one of the recruiting experts can verify that. I know he was bornan hour away from Pittsburgh, then moved to Tennessee at some point.

I live down here on the coast and heard the same thing. They told me specifically before the year that he would transfer if not #2 on the depth chart

starting for us that year was because Henig reinjured his shoulder/collar bone and Josh Riddell blew out his knee. If Favre was to transfer we would have no choice but to sign a JUCO or move another player over to the QB position. I know Favre has a high opinion of himself but when you get no other offers from a BCS team it should tell you not to expect significant playing time as a freshman or sophomore. If he wasn't willing to wait his time here not sure why he came. Russell if fairly fragile so there is a decent chance that next year Favre would end up with playing time coming in for a banged up Russell if nothing else even before Prescott.

did anyone really think he was actually a viable option at QB? Did anyone actually expect him to be a factor on gameday?

I was under the impression that he walked on and it was almost a courtesy to allow him to do that. I could be very wrong on this but that is what I thought happened.

If Mullen was relying on him for the future we are in much worse shape than I originally thought.

Will him leaving really have any impact on this team?

been more of a distraction if anything. Might be better for both parties with a transfer.

And, no, he didn't walk on. He was a scholarship player from the beginning. I just hope he doesn't transfer to USM and beat our *** in 2014. I don't think he will, but I do think he's still got a chance to be a decent I-A mid-major QB.

because we have them on the schedule. If he wants to go to USM, he is going to have to either walk-on or go JUCO first for a year.
