DO NOT WANT TO PLAY GA TECH!!!!

Glad we have a month to prepare for that option attack. It can be a b!#>h to contain.

Yep. With weeks to prepare, it wont be that bad. Thats why Johnson is only 4-7 in bowl games.

If it was only one week to prepare, it would be brutal. Just dont see that style of offense anymore.

in taxslayer. That's the word right now.

Should be a pretty even matchup. Tech cut blocks all the time to cut down on pursuit by the DL. Oddly enough they hurt us with their passing attack, I guess selling out to slow down their run game that's a price you pay if the qb is on. QB is a fast guy, former Alabama sprint champion in track so he can hurt you with running ability, but a decent enough passer for an option qb. UK should be able to run on them with their offense so tech can't control the clock. Really a good matchup and a game that isn't onesided from the start, could get that way if one team gets momenutum going their way.

Cut the crap. You know squat.

Brian Kelly blames cut blocks for injuries to Irish defenders

Michael Bennett rips Falcons lineman after suffering injury on dangerous cut block

Butch Jones not happy with a cut block that ended DT’s season vs. Georgia

NFL bans all chop blocks

Clemson bracing for Ga. Tech’s cut blocking‘worst thing ever’

Update: Cut blocking sidelines Florida State trio

Those are all article titles about the negative impact from cut blocking. Plenty more where those came from. So give the "you know squat" talk a rest.

I dont like a Ga Tech matchup. But hey, if we can beat UofL we have a good shot against any one of the 4 ACC teams they listed.

I thought about you after the UL/UK game and what you told us about Grantham when he went to UL. Thanks UGA for sending him to UL.

Should be a game that could end in 2 hours with the constant running plays and both defenses aren't very stout vs. the run :flushed:

Teams that are content to pound the run game and not fiddle with passing give UK fits...I'd expect no less if it is Ga Tech. Outside of Jordan Jones and to a degree Adrian Middleton...all the rest of our front 7 guys are below average run stoppers. Allen/Ware in particular really both struggle in the run game and play against their strength which is rushing the passer.

Especially a team that hits you with the run from different angles. Both wings can hurt you with sweeps and counters. The back and the QB both run as well. UK will have 4 potential runners on each play to worry about. Having 3 or 4 weeks to prepare will help though.

I'd rather play Miami or Virginia Tech.

The one team I DON'T want to play is Georgia Tech.

I hate trying to defend the option and Va Tech and Miami or bigger names...

You equate chop blocks with cut blocks. They are different. One is illegal- chop - the other is legal - cut. Players/coaches should be severely disciplined for repeated chops.

Your references refer to GT in only one instance & that is about what might happen vs. what did.

If cuts were the problem you harp on, considering the NCAA's & NFL's focus on injuries, I think it would be outlawed.

Considering we just beat the team previously viewed to have the #1 offense in the country who has the most mobile QB in the country, I don't give a rat's *** about how difficult it would be to defend anyone's offense.

This team has figured out how to win games and they have done so when the defense has been giving up loads of points.

Just for education purposes a chop block is when is when a blocker is engaged with a defender up high, and a second offensive player goes low on the same defender. The cut block is a legal play in which the blocker aims for a defender's thigh, in order to get him on the ground.

The triple option is my favorite offense to watch. We will need to all the time we can get to prepare for it.

What happens to the ACC side of things if Virginia Tech beats Clemson?

Total shake up, Clemson would end up in the Orange Bowl, VATech could jump over UofL or FSU for the Citrus with better overall record. If that happened then FSU and UofL would probably end up in the next top two bowls the ACC has.

Need run blitzes over 50% of the time. Get a guy in the backfield gunning for the QB and force him to pitch the ball too early.... give our other guys more time to react and stop the play before its a big run. or force turnovers or just get the sack. Doing what we usually do which is 2 gap / waiting to react will just assure GT puts 45+ pts on the board.

OK so I worded it wrong, but the point is still correct. They use cut blocking and those are what most of the articles were about.

I think Grantham is one of the more knowledgeable DCs in college today. His issues are he doesn't teach fundamentals and sometimes tries to get to complex with his schemes. He sometimes forgets college kids have more on their plates than football and he gets too complicated for the time allowed to practice. I wish we had kept Pruitt as DC, I wouldn't have been upset if Pruitt was named head coach, but he is an alpha guy, very abrasive personality and if he was head coach, an OC who had multiple 3 and outs or back to back turnovers it would very likely have gotten ugly on the sidelines, tact wasn't a strength of his either.

Works well with how petrino operates. He loads up for early games and big opponent and usually loses a couple headscratchers. I think both their approaches lead to the dismantling of fsu and looking all world and then... losing the last 2 in disappointing manners.

Not a fan of J'ville, a few decades removed from full go paper mill operation and a wastewater treatment plan that was oderiferous! The City started using Municipal Strength deodorant but on a good day, you still get blasted with that reminder, much better places to spend New Years Eve! I say all this in jest of course, some truth, but mainly jest....
