You are worried about a 3rd string transfer who had offers from TN Chattanooga and is contemplating going to Austin Peay. Give it up. We need someone who can run the damn scout team offense and maybe be a good or better player than the guy transferring. QB's are made to transfer as Steve Spurrier said. Not great depth at position but we were not winning with Towles who some on here in retrospect have made to be the best QB in SEC. We were not going to win with Phillips, I am not saying Barker is any good and can win but we weren't winning many games with PT.

Most of these guys are recruiting HS kids and promising them no other guys, this is why offer list is what it is. Usually in these instances there is a coach or someone that the QB bonds with (Iowa St.) doesn't mean he is not a player, big power 5 conference teams are not going to disrupt their HS guys etc..

Wow what a crew.
Ahem, I've never been worried about Reese Phillips. Haha is this a joke?? I'm saying that this QB doesn't fit the "big get" mold in my opinion.

Why would people believe a poster with two posts who has info on not just one player, but has scoop on others we have not heard about?

Credibility will be gained when Loney or Rowland or the actual recruits announce something.
Either he will be right or wrong...but they will never give their sources up.

If UK does in fact land Gran, I'd rather have someone familiar with the offense like Kiel. He's proven to be successful at this level and has amassed a ton of passing yards.

Again, why would Kiel come to UK to be Barker's backup? This is not fantasy football.

Few things...do we know if Kiel is transferring? And why didn't he go to the bowl with his team? The excuse "personal reasons" was given...what does that mean?

If we are to believe the story that Gran is having 2d thoughts about taking the UK job and a primary reason is UK's QB situation, that would indicate Kiel either isn't leaving UC or isn't coming here.

If Gran doesn't take the job because of UK's QB situation what does that say about Barker and Gunnar? Would indicate to me Gran holds neither in very high esteem.

And what about this Hansen report? Why wouldn't Gran want to coach a former highly regarded 4* QB? Unless, of course, the Hansen thing is bogus.

Lots to sort out IF Gran walks away from the OC job.

Some people can bring more to the board in two posts than others can with several thousand posts...
Agree. I have had the inside scoop once on a player (basketball side) because of a really close connection to him. I told people the info, they wanted to know where I got it from because everything they were hearing was the opposite. I wouldn't give my source up (who would), so they didn't believe me. Turns out, the kid went where I was told he was going. The stuff the guy has shared in two posts seems like he definitely has a contact that is giving him some info. No way you grab something like what he said out of thin air and put it on here.

I was told some more information this morning. Demarre Kitt is a real possibility depending on who the new OC is. He was mum on some new staff members. Also expect to get at least a visit from some nice juco linebacker from OK to take a look at us, didn't get a name. Expect 2-3 recruits to be told to look elsewhere and replaced. That's all I got. Will post more info if I get it.

Demarre Kitt news may not be a reach. He was highly interested in UK on the first go round out of high school.

What this means is that we have struck out on the Gran-Kiel package. Look for another OC to be named this week.

My assumption is that when Stoops had UK post the opening, it was simply so that he could meet the state requirements for posting, but that he had his man. Do you presume that more than one actual candidate applied for the job?

If Stoops' primary target has gone cold, I would expect the school to repost the job when the new OC is found. Do you think otherwise?

Does an HC have multiple candidates apply when the posting is made?

First, when has Kiel or anyone around him said anything about him wanting to transfer, that is ALL pure speculation at this point. Why would he transfer out of a situation where he is the known starter into a situation where he has to compete for the job?

Second, picking up a guy like Hansen is the staffs effort to bring in a solid, somewhat tested backup so we can have the benefit of redshirting Hoak.

If we bring in Kiel, we risk losing Barker. That's not something this program needs. Barker won't be content to sit another year, especially after its been publicly stated that the job is his now, sink or swim.

I am not supporting the rumor, but if Barker bolts over competition, he should just leave right now.
It wouldn't be the bolting over competition so much as his not being able to trust the staff any more. Stoops publicly stated this is Barkers team moving forward. If I was a player and was told that and was preparing for that, I would be pretty upset if they all of a sudden turned around and said, hold on, here's another dude that you have to beat out next year.

Stoops said Barker was the starter heading into the spring. Since then, UK is hiring a new OC and NEEDS depth at QB. He can be upset, if he does not realize the circumstances and is afraid of competition. If he thought competition was over for a coach who has repeatedly stressed that every position is open, he needs to work on more than his game.

Based on what Rowland reported on twitter, and the big discussion going on about Justice Hansen over on HOB, I have no reason to question the OP. I would love to get all 3 of Justice Hansen, Chris Baccus, and Demarre Kitt. I'll feel much better about Hansen and Kitt if Gran is announces as our new OC.

If you don't compete everyday in football then you can expect to be replaced. I'm sure DB knows he has to work everyday if he wants to be the starting QB. I don't mean anything personal but DB hasn't proven to be the most stable person with his off the field issues. You definitely will need some type of QB insurance and competition and both JUCO QBs that have been mentioned have more to offer than Phillips.

Yes, JR tweeted about Hansen but you may want to head to HOB to see what he actually said about the situation.

That is fair of you to do. He may be making it all up and next time nobody will trust a thing he says...but even if it were 100% solid info, the sources wouldn't be given up.

I agree. Sometimes a source is a publication or a Twitter feed. In such instances, there need be no confidentiality. Mainly, I desire some measure of confirmation from a reporter or the kid himself. Right now, it appears we must rely on this poster. I was inclined to believe him until he started offering info about other players. Now, I will wait to see what happens.

Just realized that Chris Baccus is teammates with Jordan Bonner as well. That would definitely support the OP's claim.

Yes, Baccus is a 4 star teammate of Bonner.

Kitt seriously considered UK out of HS.

Hansen plays a position of great need & he played for brother Bob.

Pringle is already known to be trying to enroll.

Some may not like it, but I find all of this believable & I'd love for UK to finish out this class with these JUCO's

Dropped my Rivals subscription a long time ago, but I have read that his JUCO HC claimed that he doesn't know anything about it.

Would really love to add all three of these guys. With the departure of Snodgrass, the lack of development from Williams, and the injury to Montgomery, Kitt could come in and make an impact right away. Obviously we need QB depth and this kid could provide that. And LB is a big question mark heading into next season.

Being a Rivals250 and ESPN300 recruit out of HS suggests he has some talent, lol.

No it doesn't. A big number of those Top 250-300 guys are busts and never heard from. Not saying it's true if this guy but the fact that he made that list is irrelevant. He can either play or he can'tcan't

He said suggests, not guarantees, and it does suggest that they have talent. I'm not gonna doubt the kid. He looks like he can make the passes he needs to make, he was the #6 overall QB coming out of high school, and it's extra depth. Take it, don't look back, don't complain.

Good point, and, also, since when is a 5.6 "not good"? Without actually calculating it, I guarantee that a 5.6 is a higher star rating than the UK historical average when it comes to football.

We need an experienced backup, and both Matt Smith and Phillips were two stars when they committed, both ended up late 5.5s IIRC.

Sign him up, sounds like he has a lot of potential.
