Some folks have too much time on their hands apparently need to grow up.

I guess it's a Southern tradition to fight battles well after they're lost and over, but the PAC thing is a joke. I am sure they have some people who support them, but that doesn't mean they're going to see change in any fashion, and I don't see what a PAC could do. You aren't going to get the Mississippi legislature to start mandating a state school's mascot. I think that's their goal, but there is no way that's going to happen.

It's also funny to me that even though the mascot was gone for 8 years, you didn't see this much action from the CRF or the formation of a PAC from these functional retards until the students voted to adopt a new mascot.

"You aren't going to get the Mississippi legislature to start mandating a state school's mascot. "

I would not put anything past that goofy bunch of flatheads we call a legislature. They have tried (and done) some pretty stupid stuff over the years.

Let's assume this makes it to the ballot and it Colonel Reb is victorious. What does that achieve? I would assume the University, AD, or whatever would just say, "tough luck, it's our decision, the bear stays".

What am I missing?

First, I think the whole "political correctness" thing is total BS.... so for that point, I want to sign and left them keep the Col.

But, since I HATE TSUN, I want to sign the petition just so I can vote NO!!!

to the Unicorns. Imagine the never-ending cycle of people screwing with other schools' mascots.

We should use this list to ban anyone who signs it from attending games.

This is terrible, the last thing we need is the populace of this State having one iota of power over our Universities.

Was the Col around when Ogeron was there ? If he was I`d hate to see what O would have done without that monumental mill stone around his neck.

...okay, I get congress does nothing but name post offices & pass anti-abortion laws during the worst recession in 70 years.

But that's our national congress in action, & they are all (regardless of political party) a bunch of bought off, worthless idiots.

But there is no way my tax dollars are going to Mississippi Secretary of State Delbert Hosemann dicking off, wasting the state of Mississippi's time on this Colonel Rebel foolishness.

As somebody whose taxes pays Delbert Hosemann's salary, I demand Delbert Hosemann be fired immediately.

Can only be used to amend the MS constitution. I have no idea what language they are proposing for that amendment, but I would imagine it would include the IHL board. And yes....if it ever made it that far it would be a cluster17.

He's simply certifying that they have collected an adequate number of signatures and that those signatures are valid, whether or not he agrees with the petition. If there were a petition to paint the governor's mansion chartreuse and fuchsia and it had met the legal requirements, he'd certify it, too.

...the MS Secretary of State should not be pushing silly mascot crap to appear on the 2012 Mississippi Presidential Election Ballot. (Which will happen if they get 100,000 signatures from registered voters).

Hosemann should have stopped this foolishness in its tracks.

Can you imagine how the 2012 Mississippi voting ballot will appear if this mess is successful?

*Vote for president.

*Vote for state offices.

*Last question on ballot: "Do you think the Colonel Rebel mascot should be reinstated at the University of Mississippi?"

This is as embarrassing as Oklahoma placing Sharia law on their ballot..

That's right. He has to certify it if it's legal. If you give the SOS the ability to filter legal petitions, you just gave him a shitload of power.

Can you seriously not see that all he's certifying is that the initiative is in the proper format? You want to see him really waste some time, let him not certify it and then defend a lawsuit for not certifying it, and then be forced to certify it by a judge.
