always run through my head about Croom. "Talks like Tarzan, Coaches like Jane". I mean the man continuosly talked about winning conference and national championships without even exerting the energy to put together a decent recruiting class until this year (year 6!!!). Heck, I would have been happy to get to bowl games regularly, sign some decent players (especially at the most important position -- QB), and have my coach be able to make decisions within his own staff that could better the program. Also, I got a little tired of Croom treating the MSU fanbase like the enemy most of the time. I'm sure Croom had a great relationship with players but he did little to endear himself to the MSU fans. Oh, and before any players start getting upset about Croom being gone they need to look in the mirror. The actions of Brown, Wesley, Johnson, Hughes, Prince and Pegues (1st game suspension) all had a big part in the results of this season.
to have an air of arrogance about that from the getgo, which is laughable. He considers himself as an Alabama guy. hell, even Jackie finally said to himself ."to hell with Alabama: and didn't give a shat about them...Croom never did disown them. He simply never appeared to be comfortable with the job, and ended up approaching paranoia, and retreated into a shell of a sort with his players...he also appeared to have no sense of urgency...in other words, he was lazy. He should have followed his instincts and resigned after that Tulane game, when he said he thought about it. He would not have been as wealthy but we would not have had to endure this nightmare that is finally over...thank gawd.
