Damn that’s good news to have him back next year. Hope Shoop uses him right and doesn’t waste the talent we will have on the front 7.

If he puts on 15-20 pounds of muscle in the offseason, he will be unstoppable. He'll be a first-rounder then for sure.

Two first team All-SEC players returning and crazy depth behind them... If there is a better DL unit in America next year, I’d love to see it.

We will have a ton of DL to rotate. Like 11 or 12?
Are we heading back to 4-3?

4-3, 3-4, 4-2-5, etc. I don’t really care what scheme we run, as long as our best 11 are on the field. With our depth up front this year and in the future, getting four of them on the field at once instead of just three might not be a bad idea.

Even thought Grantham ran a 3-4, it was not uncommon for us to have four down linemen on the field at the same time. We played the Gator Bowl with four down linemen most of the game.

Down lineman has little to do with a 3-4, 4-3. It’s about gap assignments. Most of the time in a 3-4 you still have 4 guys on the los, but their assignments are completely different than a 4-3. Way different.

I agree we may very well be the deepest and meanest d line in amurrica. Alabama has a first team and 2 second team selections along with, I’m sure, tons of 4 and 5 Star depth... but screw them we the best!

This might be the most Mississippi State post of celebration I have ever read. Excitement with a good dose of possible pessimism on the end.

We are M State.

While I'm beyond stoked about sweat staying I cannot understand why these guys come back. Unless youre loaded they need to go get that money while they can. I get the whole family deal with your university and i esoecially get this with how special thjs team can be but still...If he's first or early second and feels like he can compete in the NFL he needs to go. Just like fletcher cox, get in the NFL and perform and you'll get the money You may or may not have missed with your signing bonus by staying an extra year and getting drafted higher. (Awesome run on sentence there) You can get your degree later. It's probably a joke degree anyway. These guys careers are shorter and shorter.

Maybe he didn't get the draft grade he thought he deserved and wanted to come back and improve. Or maybe he realizes he could be on a special team next year and doesn't want to miss those memories. Definitely glad he's back and hope it works out well for him, but I do understand your point.

He’s not first early second...personally I doubt he’s 3rd at the moment, he’s coming back to attempt to get into that range.

I think it's pretty obvious

that he came back bc he didn't do as well in the draft grade as he'd like, and that he feels (or was told) he can improve that.

I seriously doubt he came back out of the kindness in his heart.

if he gains 15 clean lbs, maintains his quickness, he will be a top 2 rounder next year and staying will have been worth it. Been saying that for a while.

Yeah

if he can get up to 260 and maintain his speed/quickness, he'll have added a couple of numbers to his contract...
