I don’t like messing with the WV. I am a veteran, and I appreciate the message, but do it on one side if you have to but keep the WV flying. The logo/brand needs expanded, not replaced, even temporarily.

I get the nice tribute. But these are awful

The entire uniform has sucked for years. Dana let the team pick out the gear - yeah that was going to be a good idea. A brand is a sensitive thing and not a fashion statement based on what is cool this year or whatever event needs to be highlighted for PR reasons. I want two uniforms - home and away that never change and not fairied up with 'cool ****' and dumb add ons. I want my helmet blue and the WV flying on it.

I see you haven't moved into the 21st century, yet.

Uniforms are a brand that should be recognizable.

Some schools want to catch the attention of players but data has showed that players don't care about uniforms.

When someone turns on the TV they should be able to identify WVU. It hurts when they cannot and your uniforms begin to get confused with other schools.

I bet Michigan was pissed when WVU copied their colors. Cal, too.

I don't know where the colors come from at WVU.
Majority of schools have a story behind the colors.

Cal is used to other schools stealing their things. They created a new fight song because of UCLA stealing theirs when they created the university.

Point is people recognize these things about each university and by changing it you are making it harder to identify.
If they do change they should just keep the new uniforms.
It isn't just Dana and Neal Brown to blame. It is Nike as well.
Nike wants you to change so they can sell more merchandise.

I agree. Call me old if you want. And it's possible that keeping the same unis is not the best way to attract players. Or maybe not. I don't know. But get nice unis and stick with them instead of constantly chasing the Gimmick of the Week.

Some teams keep their classic unis...Penn State, Texas, etc...how many times do you turn their game on and think "What ugly unis?" I never do. They look good and it makes them instantly recognizable. I can't count the number of times I saw a Cal game or highlight and at first thought it was WVU.

I wouldn't doubt for a second that all the uni changes is some kind of gimmick that makes money for Nike.

ETA: Our unis in the 80s and 90s were good. But if we never changed from then and we going 30 years or so with the same, nice unis? Every college football fan would instantly recognize us in games or highlights.

I was recently looking at the 1984 WVU-BC highlights on Youtube. Great game. BC was #4 in the country and Flutie was on his way to a Heisman. WVU was down 20-6 at halftime but won 21-20. On BC's final drive, Flutie came close to hitting the WR on a 4th and 24 that would have put BC in field goal range and he had hit that it would have gone down in WVU football history as one of the worst plays ever. It would have made Tremaine Mack's punt block look not so bad in comparison.

But all that said, the uniforms looked awesome (except for the low quality video, but I can remember what they looked like). If we had stuck with these we'd have a 35-40 year tradition and a strong brand and great looking uniforms. We should never have stopped them. HEY SHANE LYONS, GO BACK TO THOSE UNIFORMS AND STICK WITH THEM!!! It's not too late.

Here you go. Nice. Distinctive. And by the way, isn't it nice to see a uniform without a Nike swoosh on them? I realize that's no an option nowadays, but I'm just saying it looks better without it.

I don't really have an opinion on them. My only thought is it doesn't matter what helmet we have on our O-Line still can't block.

I don't really like the white or gold helmet, but I digress; I had no problem with the stars and stripes WV logo Saturday.
