My dad is all about getting crafty and making stuff. He is wanting to make me a custom cowbell, so I'm wondering if there is anywhere I can buy some paint that is out color maroon. Anyone else painted their own cowbells and got our correct shade?
Help needed on correct shade of maroon paint.

From the MSU Site, the official color is PMS 505 (maroon); most good paint stores can mix with the PMS #
Dont know if a paint store can use the hex but this link should provide you some assistance.

Home Depot sells Glidden team colored paint. They have MSU's color code:

Call Shermin Williams in Starkville. The correct color for MSU maroon is Pantone 505. Any Shermin Williams store can call up the Starkville store to get the mix codes.

Seems from the other references they are suggesting house paint?? We supply one of the guys in Starkville that makes many a cowbell. He uses automotive paint as do I, it is more durable. I live in Tupelo, so if you are in the NE MS area I can fix you up no problem.

... bought two Mac bulldog truck hood ornaments on ebay
... acquired two heavy duty cowbells
... got a local welder to attach bells to bulldog 'handles'
... local auto detail shop powder coated chrome when they were running other parts
Total cost ~ $48 each.
Serve as bookends until I tote to a game

like someone already said, the sherwin williams in starkville has the correct color code. the school buys tons of maroon paint from them and any sherwin williams store can call the starkville store and give the store you are in the color code
