I don't want someone who had an 18-46 conference record at a major conference school.

I don't know much about Stony Brook or Missouri State, but the other coaches listed have not been overly successful from what I've seen.

I love his style of play and his coaching ability. I actually mentioned him for our job over a year ago after his team drilled ours.

Asst coach under Lute Olson, George Karl, Steve Lavin and Ernie Kent. Won two Division II national championships at Metro State College of Denver in the late '90s. I lived in Colorado at the time, and his teams played fundamentally sound basketball. I don't know why he isn't a head coach somewhere already.

He already makes more at Memphis than we'll pay our new coach, he's got a cake walk to the NcAAs every year, and Memohis is a better program.

That would be like us stealing Jimbo Fisher in football.

If, and I emphasis if, he's had any communication with our staff at all, it's him leveraging out a new deal/extension from Memphis.

Competing in the Big East is so much easier than the SEC.

Pastner just signed an extension last year and only makes 1.5mil a year. not saying he's interested or we should hire him but if the rumor is true that we'll go up to 2 mil then he is within reach.

Steve Alford from New Mexico. He seems to have a nice team and they competed very well last night.

with that said, I do think he has potential as a good coach. He can recruit but coaching is lacking (haven't we seen that before)? But don't forget 4 years ago he was the 3rd assistant and backed into the job essentially. I really think he will be good with another 3-5 years of head coaching.

Hopefully by partial list you meant these are the guys who don't care if there name is leaked. I am having a hard time seeing potential in any of those people.

To get to the NCAAs in the Big East than the SEC. When half the league is in the top 25 you boost SOS and RPI damn near every week.

Plus, he's about to be able to sit in every recruits living room in the South and say "come play in the best league in the country". And he'll be the only school in 1,000 miles that can say that.

He makes 1.7 now. We won't pay much more, if any, than that. 2 million is our tops, not what we're looking to spend. Memphis basketball has much deeper pockets than we do.

You can forget about him.

Has taken Lehigh to 2 NCAA's in 5 years...not sure how well he would recruit in the SEC, but impressive resume at an academically tough university.

His stops at NC State, Butler, Xavier, and Ohio State before being a head coach are quality stops. And he has his team playing well in. He's a good age as well. Just a name I haven't seen mentioned and wanted to throw out there, but I have seen his name in connection with the Nebraska job.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Groce

I would also love some interest from Chris Mack but I doubt he has interest in leaving his alma mater and the area he is from to move down south when he can make the tourney easily from Xavier.

Drawing a blank on his name but I know the coach at MS Valley is on the verge of wetting his pants he wants the job so bad. Of course I would think any SWAC coach woudl feel the same way about an SEC opening.
