UPDATE (3:15 P.M. Central): NOLA.com is now reporting that Coach Sean Payton said Deuce was signed to be a captain and lead the team out onto the field, not play in tomorrow's game.</p>
McAllister originally agreed to come back as a guest captain but when a roster spot opened up due to DT Rodney Leisle ending up on injured reserve, GM Mickey Loomis suggested that Deuce take that spot.</p>
"This is more about doing something the right way and bringing the guy back," said Payton, who said he contacted McAllister about three weeks ago to see if he would be available.</p>
Deuce practiced with the team today during their walk-thru as well as had video highlights of his career shown to the team by Payton. He will join the team at the hotel tonight.</p>
"It was a good deal. It was awesome," Payton said of the team's response to McAllister's return. "And it was fitting because of the way he had played in the divisional round for us three years ago."</p>
Now an official part of the team, Deuce will earn $21,000 for the playoff game from a league pool.</p>
