I for one have never really liked the word "recruiting".
For instance in college I think of "recruiting" as getting free tuition.
In which high schools are students getting so-called "free tuition", public of private?
I just think the student and parents should decide where they want to attend school wherever they want to go and which is the best fit for them -- public or private. It's their life.
Our family has supported both the public and private schools and all are succeeding.

Coming from a Maine South guy this is just precious. One of your coaches that wanted my son to play there commented, "you know apartments in district are cheaper than tuition." Get off your soapbox PRokie and back to the "B" Team!
Separating Public & Private schools in the playoffs is a stupid and boring idea.
All the games would be too predictable on the outcomes. I only support a separate playoffs for the private schools if they combine it with surrounding states and come up with a Midwest HS Playoff bracket.
Just go to 6 classes with 1-32 seeding and everything is great.

I floated the idea to separate publics and privates on the small side only. On the larger classes, publics and privates compete on the high end pretty equally. To make it work that would be all non-boundary so you could actually fill a small class- perhaps even at a reduced 16 team playoff.
Your right ! Apts are cheaper and we should be able to recruit just like everyone else!!

Here are the only things left the IHSA can do, that are realistic.
1) 6 classes, 1-32 seeding (which is the best and most logical, so of course that cant work)
2) Keep the multiplier, eliminate SF, and any private/non boundary school lowest class they can be in is 5A. 7/8A are pretty balanced for the MOST part, its the mid tier private schools that get people upset. I will agree with my public friends that schools like IC/Bmac should be in at least 5A. 1A-3A football is terrible, its awful to watch. IC was a huge powerhouse in the WSCC, and BMac was similar so no excuses for them, I'm sure they can compete against teams like Matton or Olympia Fields.
4A-1A can fight over who is the tallest midget, 5A becomes extremely more competitive with Montini/Naz/SHG?JCA/BMac/Phillips in 5A. Some may not like that but winning a sate title should not be easy. 6A might make some publics worried that a private school or 2 will slip into 6A, Im sorry if you cant win with 1,500 students and free tuition, thats on you. For the most part 7/8A sort themselves out.

exactly how you SHOULD search to live, everyone I know either moved to an area with a great public school or save up for a private school.

Had the twins at 25 ... I knew private school was not in their future!
You kid doesn't play football and you have an issue with a flier to go to a private school. News flash...that private school needs students....maybe even those who don't play football !! Plus you cited the parents who moved to have their kid enroll in another school. Maybe those parents are as sinister as Marian Central...particularly if their kid wants to play ball at the new location and the parents want that too.
Looked up the IL state hoops rankings and the team summaries for two CPS schools referred to adding transfer reinforcements. This can be done in football too - now that they got a taste, they may want more.
