Yeah I was leaning troll job but this would be pretty crappy to extend another week for a press conference win. Their fans are stressing now.

1 of 2 things are happening here:

- Kiffin said I'm out but we won't make this public for another week to finish out the regular season.

- Kiffin disclosed the offers and said you have a week to match or we are parting ways.
Also, if they are jerking around, it'll finally be proof to everyone that they are a bunch of GD uppity pricks.

But the are a bunch of GD uppity pricks, so I don't know what to think.

Some of y'all have Battered Bulldog Syndrom. He's gone. They put this statement out because they're worried about losing the Egg Bowl because of the distraction this has caused. If you're staying, you sign the extension and everyone is fired up for the EB and the CFP. You don't put your own fans and players through this just to troll opposing fans.

Why would anyone in the ADs office or Lane Kiffin care if their own fans are also being trolled? All of them will claim they were insiders and knew all along that he was staying. They were just helping fuel the fire to make the press conference bigger. Sometimes I wonder if you guys even know the enemy.

This does nothing but help us. We may have an infinitesimal chance, but it increases because now it continues to be a distraction all next week.

Ole Dixie has choice but to let Kiffin play this out. His buyout with them firing him would hurt. He wants to beat MSU and coach till the end. Question is will Fl or LSU wait it out. I don’t think so.
Done deal. I suspect contract is what keeping Lane around. Who knows what's in it. It could be if he quits before the season ends it an additional penalty and if Ole Miss fires him, they have to pay the buyout. The best thing for both parties is let him finish the season then move on. Just an opinion.

I don't know any more than anyone else.

But, if he is staying put just say so, and sign the extension. That would put it all to rest. I cannot believe even UM administration would go along with just "trolling" their own fans as well as everyone else. Therefore, I must conclude that he is going elsewhere. Personally, I think he wanted to stay until UM participation in the playoffs were over. Since the rumors and pressure has become too great, he wants to finish out the season. I would not be at all surprised if he has not already signed a contract with LSU or Florida.

I get that some of you think this is a “troll” but I think yall are nuts.

It’s in OM’s best interest to have this issue put to bed as soon as possible. If he were going to stay at ole Miss, they would be announcing that now. I’d bet damn near anything he’s gone. He’s gonna coach the egg bowl then leave.

He ain’t leaving a playoff team till the playoff run is over. He ain’t leaving anyway so it’s a moot point.

I can see your point and kind of agree but going to LSU with their money he will have plenty of playoff games. He just might say screw it. I am gone.

He definitely shouldn’t leave a team that is about to make the playoffs. But I stand by the fact that OM would love nothing more than to announce this very second he’s gonna stay.

I will say this, as much as I love to see OM in scramble mode, this situation is a bit disheartening to non blue blood programs. I could see this situation happening to us. Finally have a coach get us in the playoffs and he bolts for a blue blood before the playoffs. Assuming Kiffin actually leaves before the season is officially over, I could see this changing contracts in the future. I could see schools putting some type of financial penalty in place if you leave under these circumstances.

He's gone to LSU with a $40 million Nil budget as the highest paid coach in the country.

How many players go with him?

If he had used the work “will” instead of “expect” in the last sentence, I would infer that it means he’s staying. But the word “expect” suggests that an announcement may or may not happen, further suggesting that the wheels are still turning and things are not settled. That’s my damn interpretation of it.

I’m wondering if he held up signing because his son is playing tonight in the HS playoffs. If Oxford loses, would he rip the bandaid off tomorrow and announce his departure? Had he announced today, there would be no way he could have attended his son’s game.

Nope. He’s holding off till after the Egg Bowl. His son has nothing to do with it. He’s playing out the season either way.

He'd probably owe a lot more money if he quit before season's end. And OM has to wait on him to quit unless they want to fire and buy him out. That's not happening.

My guess is he has an offer in hand and has to sign by Sunday or Monday. But it would be structured in a way that makes it effective as of Saturday after Egg Bowl. LSU could then be comfortable they have their guy and Kiffin can finish the regular season.
