it's not our fault they haven't been very successful. They shouldn't be able to keep their jobs just because they are black. I'm tired of all this color of the skin ****, let's find somebody that can 17ing coach, I don't care if he is green.

"Fifty-five percent of all student athletes are minorities."

Does anybody ever ask why it is ok to be over represented on the field/court relative to the total population as a whole, or the student population, or to participation in high school athletics? Yet, you fall short in another area and we have to have a study as to "why" and it must of course imply that discrimination is the reason....

Good grief!

One thing they are not considering. Blacks are not the primary boosters at most (if any) BCS schools.

Boosters have a huge impact on who is hired for football and basketball positions.

I feel pretty sure if a school felt like any coach, regardless of color, could carry them to the top----he'd be hired.

all they did was count the number of black coaches and then make some a bunch of assumptions.

they could have looked for several different numbers that may have told a more accurate story. for example: how many of the 55% black players go on to graduate school in the area of coaching or sports administration?

if many aren't going on to graduate school then many aren't likely getting a chance to start at the collegiate level for coaching. i have no idea on this number but it would have helped me form an opinion.

when you have 55% minorities in a sport then they are the majority group in the sport but still called minorities in the country

assume that Barack Obama getting elected President will mean that there will be more black coaches in D-I football. Where the hell did that come from? They also failed to mention the combined records of those coaches.

Too bad no one has the balls to call a spade a spade. The reason these black coaches aren't successful is because they are bad coaches.

I think the argument about # of coaching degrees awarded to minorities is really the key stat as mentioned above.

That's the real pool of potential coaches. So that's where the stats should be derived from.

That is unless there are a high % of Div 1 football coaches that have degrees in something else.

A good or bad coach depends on if they win or lose. Not what color they are.

this is exactly what i said a couple days ago in coach's thread. ESPN will come out with an article attacking diversity in general if the black coaches completely suck. if the black coaches do well the article will be about that or those black coaches
