So why have Democrats in Washington vote almost unanimously against any measure to protect women's sports if they care .
Do you follow politics at all? Nobody ever wants to give the other party a "win," especially when it's loaded with a lot of little extra bits that go far beyond what the "gist" of it is.

Did you think Republicans wanted open borders because they voted down the Lankford bill in 2024?

Well if you follow politics then I think you knew the answer before you asked the question. And no, I'm not an operative or a politico, just a keyboard warrior who argues with strangers on the internet. Maybe I should market myself to the national party...

That ain’t poor even in America. But the very poorest in America would be middle class or better in most countries in Central America, The Caribbean Islands, Africa, or the Philippines just to name a few truly POOR countries.
You don't seem to get the point I'm making so I'll say it like this.

Say there is $1,000 total dollars made a year in America.

People whose salary total up to be about $50 of that pay $15 in taxes. I consider this the "poor" group.

The other $950 pay about $317 in taxes. I consider this the "rich".

I propose to cut poor taxes to $5 (from 30% to 10%) and raise rich taxes to $475 (from 30% to 50%)

I have increased tax revenue by $148.

I spend $50 on Romneycare infrastructure since his plan worked so well Obama stole it with the Affordable Care Act. I'm assuming $50 here since it's often said communism is what would be required for this to happen, so let's spend the equivalent of the poorest 5%'s wealth on it.

I spend $50 on education reform. Better grade schools. Better trade schools. Better colleges. All free for all to learn at for upstanding members of society. (Encourage kids to stay out of gangs. Especially focus on trades. Massive shortage there)

I spend $40 on housing reform. Give first time homebuyers a leg up. Push legislation preventing foreign countries buying up our land and house as investment spec and invest in America first.

I have $8 I spend as tip on a pointless war with *spins wheel* Sudan?

This is simplistic obviously, but this is the general idea behind a democrat like Bernie's tax plan. I'm sorry but poor people's taxes just don't ******* matter in comparison to rich people's taxes.

To be "just a keyboard warrior" you sure seem to keep a lot of obscure Dem talking points at your disposal . But whatever .

What dudes are taking scholarships from girls? Where is this happening?
I genuinely don't know of anything like this happening.
Over the prior few years, there have been like a handful of examples...and not even all were verified.

Everything I have seen has shown that is not a current issue...yet you post as if this is a current issue.

And your claimed reason for why biological males have tried to play sports as a trans woman is fear mongering and unsubstantiated.
Ask Riley Gaines.

Ask Riley Gaines.
The girl who tied for 5th with a trans swimmer in 2022 (right before all of swimming banned them, so it's a moot point now) and then spent years becoming a millionaire celebrity on her sob story, and then criss-crossed the country to advocate for draconian anti-LGBT legislation that went way beyond sports? No thanks.

Mocking mental illness doesn't seem like an intelligent, compassionate, or effective way to address mental illness.

I wish the amount of passion and mental energy that many spend getting worked up over the very few trans people in this country was instead spent on things that would improve the lives of all. Things like...
- Reducing Healthcare costs for all.
- Demanding companies reduce their water and air polluting.
Etc etc etc.

I know, I know, it's easier and more satisfying to just get worked up over a social outrage issue.
Calling something what it is isn't mocking, it's bringing attention to a wave of mental illness we're seeing. People living outside of reality used to be separated from the general population. Call it what you will but these are facts....non-rational people are walking amongst us at a higher rate due to the introduction of psychiatric medications (doesn't help if your're undiagnosed/unprescribed, or prescribed but refuse,) poor conditions in many institutions that drew negative attention to them, the deinstitutionalization movement from the 50's-70's, plus state budget pressures due to the massive expense of running psychiatric hospitals. The end result is more crazy people amongst us, including those that believe they're something they're not.
While we can be empathetic and compassionate to their condition, we don't have to partake in their fantasy

"anti-LGBT legislation that went way beyond sports?"
Having a bit of a problem finding this . Was it legislation involving the entire LGBT community or just men in women's sports ?

Are you serious? Every red state passed sweeping anti-LGBT laws in the last few years that went way beyond sports and Riley Gaines was always on hand to celebrate them, Mississippi included. It's baffling that you are trying to argue that she didn't because right wing news sources got a huge victory lap out of them.

I didn't "argue" anything, I simply asked for an example of Riley Gaines advocating for any legislation dealing with any LGBT issues other than men in women's sports . You seem to be programed to do nothing but repeatedly regurgitate Dem talking points whether they are true or not .

Chicken or the egg...is this wave of mental illness we're seeing a result of left-wing policies catching on? Or are left-wing policies catching on a result of the wave of mental illness 🤔? Regardless, there seems to be a correlation between mental illness and progressivism, Marxism and socialism.

Gotta go!

I mean, you can Google "what laws did riley gaines advocate for that go beyond sports" and see that she has traveled to advocate to ban trans people from restrooms, women's shelters, prisons, etc., as well as laws that ban gender affirming care. Plus she's also done COVID vaccine stuff and immigration/ICE. I'm sure you agree with all those things, but clearly you'll have concede that she doesn't only do sports.

I find it fascinating that in the same thread, I'm being told that actually every Democrat disagrees with me on this issue, and also I'm just a bot for "Dem talking points" but I guess that's just how talking to people on the Internet goes.

Red the thread. I didn't initially use the word 'mocked'. Go argue with the person who first used it.
You insinuated someone was mocking mental illness. I simply stated that calling it what it is isn't mocking.
Seems like we're both in agreement that we're dealing with a mental illness crisis though, no? Glad we found some common ground

Questions:

-Who is mocking?
-Is it better to placate the mental illness than to call it what it is? Because placating these mentally ill people isn’t working nor is it the right thing to do. Many people have been suckered into sterilizing themselves, mutilating their bodies irreversibly, and some still commit suicide despite doing what mental health “professionals“ assured them they needed to do.

Give me a break with this 5th place crap. I don’t care if she was last place NCAA swimmer if she was my daughter or yours you would be damn proud of her accomplishments and pissed she had to swim against a dude …

The question was whether a transgender person cost her anything. What a bizarre pivot to move the goalposts to whether her parents are proud of her swimming accomplishments or not.

Surely to some degree it's always been there, but for a multitude of reasons was suppressed in various forms. It used to be dealt with and treated, now it's celebrated and we're all supposed to accept it. ********. You're a boy or you're a girl. If you're a dude and want to tuck your weiner and have me call you Samantha, whatever. Samantha it is. To me you're Samantha the weiner-tucked confused crossdresser. I don't respect you any less as a person, hell I'll go have a beer with you and we can be friends, surely we have some commonalities between us and we can lean on those and have meaningful conversations and a mutual respect for each other. But don't expect me to acknowledge you as a female.

For every trans that made a girl's roster, a true female got denied a spot.

This is that hard for you to figure out? Title IX was supposed to support women. They just never knew they'd have to fight this issue.

Is there a single transgender person out there who thinks their cells or chromosomes have changed? I think this is a strawman.

At a minimum It cost someone a spot on the swim team
This is probably true (although do Ivy League women's swimming rosters hit the maximum number - I'm honestly not sure), but it was fixed over 4 years ago and there's hasn't been another M->F swimmer at the NCAA championships since then, so I think we've probably gotten all the mileage we can out of it, right?

This is embarrassing behavior from Travis. The WNBA has the policy that he wants them to have. The only reason he's trying to goad them into changing is so he can make money off the outrage mob that he wants to rile up.

My philosophy has always been that if I'm surprised that someone agrees with me, I just take the W and celebrate to myself.
Travis and the pro male player (asking to be drafted) are telling the wnba to prove they will follow their own policy and included men.

I think it's genius to bring attention to the WNBA hypocrisy.

The claim was made that Gains was impacted.

She wasn't. Nobody on her team was trans.
And she didn't lose to a trans-woman in the infamous race.

It was a bad example.

No, nobody on the left cares about this issue or ever even thinks about it.

I think there are a few edge cases like sports where you have to carve out an exception for the integrity of the game. I literally don't know a single person in real life who would push back on that.

The WNBA has the policy that he wants them to have.
I don't follow this debate at all. I would love it if this whole discourse just went away.
But if these 3 things are true, why is it a big deal that Sophie Cunningham said trans people should not be allowed to play in the WNBA? Why is that national news if it's the status quo?
I realize your point is that the "conservative" media is the ones that keep dragging it up. But if Cunningham says 'No, I think only biological girls and women should play girls and women's sports' and the left just shrugs and goes on with their lives, there's nothing to report on. It's a self-feeding outrage cycle- the left gets upset at what she said, and the right says look how crazy the left is for believing that, and on and on.

I also realize saying "the left" and "the right" are oversimplifications. I certainly don't feel represented by either party, and I know many, many people feel the same way.
