Wise was recruited by us and committed. Then he went to prep school up in Maine(pretty sure). He wasnt able to get into MSU, and committed to George Washington. That never happened, and he ended up at Southern Miss where he was an offense stud.
He went pro last year, played in the DLeague for the Bakersfield Jam(pretty sure) and was still an offensive stud, especially considering it was his first year.
Yet another near miss that would have been a great addition to our team. He would have kept someone else from getting a scholarship, but ill glady in hindsight take a stud scorer over someone like Benock or Edmonson any day.
He is in a great position since he has played in an NBA system for a year with an NBA length schedule, and still managed to put up excellent numbers against better competition than college players went up against.
I really hope the DLeague route is how more elite prep players go in the coming years. With Latavious Williams, Wise, and Mike Taylor from ISU all going that route after leaving college early/no college at all and all 3 improving their stock in terms of being drafted or just getting paid better the next season, its a proven route for prep players.
