Here's a hell of a deal from our athletic dept.

Our attendance this year has been fair. I recall beating Kentucky once in the 80's and we had just over 2000 fans at the game. It will be a few years before we see hard sell outs again. When the seating changed a few years back, it really pi$$ed off some people me included. I understand we had high dollar donors sitting in the upper deck. I believe the mid-court student section should have been moved or reduced to allow more premium seating for the big dogs.

Sorry you got pissed off. You must care more about your seat than you do winning, because if we really want Rick Ray to succeed, then we will do whatever we can to build an atmosphere in the Hump that makes it impossible/difficult for opponents to win. And $eating the big dog$ at mid court while booting the $tudent$ out is not the way to do that.

You are full of ****. No way big donors were put in the upper deck unless they chose those seats. It's based on Bulldog Club points.

I was in that seat for 17 years only missing 5 home games during that time. I never asked to be moved either. I was a season ticket holder when the university couldn't give tickets away. I've done my part. I'm still in the club and still attend games, but being loyal didn't count for much.

What pissed you off about it? Did you have great seats without having to donate all that much? If so, well... sorry that the free ride is over, but that was the entire point of the changes.

Oh and by the way, I can understand being a little peeved about it, but the fella(I know his name, but I'm just not mentioning it) that sued the university over it deserves to be ostracized and pissed on for the rest of his pathetic life.

still a choice, but isnt there an extra premium to sit down low (on top of ticket prices & doesn't count for BC points)?

My issue with the Hump is the lifetime faculty seating. I have a neighbor who sits in his dead fathers' seats in basketball. He is well-off, but doesn't donate much at all because he has those basketball seats.

You got me there. It's my understanding the number "17" has another meaning. Let's just say I was there when Cameron "Smoke" Burns was a soph.

I didn't say they were put in the upper deck. Big donors were already in the upper deck and wanted better seats. Pat I know you are very close to the program and if I'm full of ****.......you tell me why the seating changed.

Times change my friend. I can see why you would be upset. I would be too, but the reality is that if you want us to compete, we have to pay coaches and have the facilities to do so. And giving people squatter's rights won't get us there. We have to take care of the money folks while also creating an environment that enhances our chances of winning.

Kicking Bird, I admire folks like you. You will never hear a complaint out of me if you are buying tickets and going to games, I don't care what kind of fan you are, negative, positive, student, old crusty, it matters little. We as fans have 3 responsibilities and need to be doing at least two of them routinely and hopefully all 3: Give to the BC (no matter the level), buying tickets and going to games, and promoting the school (wearing the gear, word of mouth, showing up for alumni events, giving back, whatever).

However, I do encourage you to see the big picture here. We should be asking what we can do to help MSU succeed, not what our loyalty can give back to us. Any BC standing or good seats are just a secondary consolation to the big picture. Take me for example, I have a couple of those lifetime baseball tickets and love them. But if the AD decided to rezone the baseball seating based on BC level, I would be fine with it, because it helps the school the most. I also don't care if I have to sit by 'the Dudes' because they are butts in seats which is good for MSU.

I honestly don't think it had nearly as much to do with Big Donors wanting better seats as it did with our AD simply realizing how much premium seat money they were throwing away. That money can't be charged when students and "life time" seats owners are sitting there, so those groups got bumped. I wasn't and I'm still not a big fan of the students getting moved since I think that the atmosphere in the Hump started to die ever since that happened, but I understood the goal.

Now, when you start talking football, it's a completely different ballgame. They is most definitely a slew of good size donors that can't sit where they want due to this auto renewal with a minimum donation agreement that MSU has been allowing for years. Of course, that's all about to change in another year, though.

Sorry. I misunderstood you. I thought you were saying big donors were having to sit in the upper deck now. You're right that this was to make the seating more fair so big donors wouldn't be stuck in the worst seats. If you've been buying tickets as long as you say you have and have been giving anything at all to the Bulldog Club for those years, then you have plenty of BC points to get good seats in the current system. So there's no reason for you to be bitching about it. If you haven't been giving anything at all to the Bulldog Club, then you're finally getting the seats you deserve, so there's still no reason for you to be bitching about it.

Good points made by all regarding lower level seating. I have moved on and as I said earlier......I've re-enlisted in Bulldog athletics. I was not happy with a previous administration at that time, but I think we have more active focus now. I did not mean to sound negative and I'm sorry if I implied that.

As far as getting good seats without making major contributions......the seats were anything but good and they were not obtained without donations. In fact, when you add up the donations, cost of tickets going back to 1988, trips to Oby's, mileage, apparel, 350 Bryan hotdogs (Don't call me Big Sid), it cost an obscene amount of money. I'm old and crusty, but if you knew what was in my heart regarding the Bulldogs, I would never be criticized for posting a comment.

You won't get criticized for just posting, but if you are implying that your opinions are above reproach because of your age and/or love for the university, then you are going to be sorely disappointed if you keep posting here.
