I was watching him and did not notice that....he should be careful though. Thought the flyover at the end was very cool.

Otherwise, I don't get it. Templedick wouldn't so much as piss on anyone in that building. And, not surprisingly, everyone hated him. It's probably a nice change to have a boss that I'm sure they respect, but can also feel comfortable around.

who cares what he was doing at any part of the pre-game ceremonies last night? I was mixing a drink when the bomber flew over. There is no law that says you have to salute the flag during the national anthem, if that bothered you, then your probably one of the same morons who complained that the jumbotron was too loud. MSU has been stuck in the mud for a long time, along comes this guy trying to breathe life into every aspect of our athletics and people want to ***** about what he does during the national anthem??? Im sure that west point or annapolis would love for you to switch your bulldog club donations (if any) over to them, dont stay here if your offended.

that during the National Anthem, you should pay respect to your Country and then carry on your business afterwards. It's a stupid thing to ***** about on a message board, but that's what folks here do. That said, I actually agree that everyone, including the AD, should salute the Flag or put their hand over their heart while that song is being played.

I dont do anything just because 9 out of 10 other people choose to do it. Maybe he hates our president, congress, and every other elected crook thats running washington. Maybe he still hasnt gotten over sherman burning atlanta. Maybe he was working and got caught up, who knows, who cares? My point is simple, he needs to do what he is doing and more to get our athletic program moving in the right direction, beyond that, I dont care what his personal beliefs are and no one else should either.

It does matter! He is the public face of the university and personal beliefs fit way below his job requirements. Stand tall, shut up and like it. You can always move - the border is open pal.

Oh, I'm a vet in case you were wondering.

can wait for two minutes until after the National Anthem is played.

Now, that said- I didn't see Byrne mainly because I was looking at the flag during the National Anthem. But it doesn't matter who you are- if you're Greg Byrne or Bill Jones, you should always honor America during the National Anthem. A lot of people have given their lives, and a lot of people have sacrificed things like health, their time during their youth, and many have suffered through things like torture camps in Viet Nam so that I can be free and worship the way I choose without worry, so that I can go to a MSU football game and not have to be in some Communist millitary. I don't take things like that for granted. And no, I never have served in the Military, but both of my Grandfathers have- one was wounded in Korea. The other was in the D-Day invasion.

It's incredibly disrespectful and flippant to those who have made sacrifices to not take two minutes to honor what they've done for all of us. I don't care for Obama myself, or most any politician for that matter, but that's no reason to not honor those who have served in the military and to honor America. That's just ridiculous. The National Anthem isn't to honor politicians- it's to honor America. That's why the President of the US has his own song.

And got a thrillie when the big jet flying machine passed overhead.

I really don't care what Greg was doing.

I did my Army service during the Viet Nam era.
It's personal to me, he's of a younger generation, as most posters on this board are.

I did my service so our country can be free, and we can be free spirits.

I choose to be rather conservative.

As another board poster has in his sig line,
I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you.

Just live free, and exult in it.

I do remove my hat, sing, and hope that others do. And that's all I can control, or frankly give a **** about. What he does is up to him. He's supposed to run our athletic department, that's what he's paid to do. As long as he does that, I really don't care. Does it look great? No, I'll grant that. But seriously, has it come to bitching about Nat'l Anthem behavior?
