I received this in an email not 5 minutes ago from a friend. I've only taken out one name but nothing else was changed in the entire email. I'm not saying who it came from or where he lives.

Good news Matt, I have already told **** this. An older gentlemen who comes to the gym and is a MSU supporter pulled me to the side yesterday since I was in there by myself after he heard that I went to the game (UT game). He told me to just hold on. He said that Byrne came to Memphis last week and met with Soloman, George Bryan and the larger givers. They told him that going to the game and the game day experience was only part of the fun, the other was being competitive and winning ballgames. Byrne said that he has heard them along with many others and changes are going to be made and he left it at that. Byrne is not going to tell the big boys to their faces that changes are going to be made and then not do anything. He cannot risk losing their monetary support with him being such a new A.D. The wheels are in motion.

A good old fashioned Monday afternoon rumor.

You'll get my hopes us we can actually rid ourselves of this giant 17ing Walrus this season. Damn, I want Crooked Hat Crxxms gone so bad I can't stand it.

that Woody will be gone after the season and Croom will weigh 50lbs heavier by the first game next year. Also, maroon socks will be the thing of the past. Black socks are in!

should we finish 3-9 or 4-8, if he isnt bought out, he will be forced to make changes. Forcing this prideful, stubborn mule of a coach to make changes he doesnt want to make is going to explode in some type of fashion. He isnt going to just look up and say "ok, you're right....we need to install a whole new offense".....He may ask for the buyout himself...

Lotta **** gonna go down between now and then....especially if we struggle Saturday

....when I say that I want him gone. I don't care how we get him gone, just get his *** off the sidelines at MSU, but there is no way that we will fire him this year.

Unfortunately for me, that means that I have got to find a new hobby next year during college football season. I don't think I can take this crap for another year. Earlier this year, I thought to myself "Maybe he can get it together.....maybe he can coach these guys into another 7-8 win season and build off of that momentum!"

Then I came to the realization that Croom can't coach. He makes terrible decisions during crunch time, he doesn't coach up his players, he doesn't build a system to maximize his players' abilities. He is not head coach material.

I'm sure he can make big money as a motivational speaker one day as long as he doesn't have to answer questions after the speech.

My biggest fear is that we don't fire him this year and he wins 6 next year.......guess what, we'll keep him for another year after that. It's a cycle that scares me to death as an MSU fan.

....McCorvey will step down due to "health reasons," and that will be that. I don't think he will stand up for McCorvey. That may be our best hope, though.

The MTSU game is damn near a must win for Crxxm. If we go 3-9 or 2-10, I think Byrne's going to see the writing on the wall for season ticket sales next year. We could easily be looking at a $2.5M decrease in ticket sales / concessions / parking if we keep Crxxm with that kind of record this year. Much cheaper to just pay him his $1.7 per year buyout and hire a new coach now.

Byrne has actually discussed the possibility with anyone? Anyone at all? If he has, I would say there's a chance...now it might be one in a million but there is a chance.

awaiting the answer on that one. I'm assuming it's a typo (should be Solomon), but that name doesn't ring a bell with me.

he still has a home at OW but it is secluded (mostly) from view. Also maintains a home in Memphis.

to the left of #10 fairway, if I remember correctly near the women's tee box. But I may be confused with where his son lived.

(I've always wanted to say that). There is a Jerry Solomon that lives in Germantown that is a patron of excellence with the school. That's who he thought the man was referencing. He also asked the man at the gym to confirm Greg wasn't in town for official business and the man said no. He was here to speak with donors about a buyout. The mythical man in the gym could be spreading a bunch of BS but why would an old man pull some one aside in a gym and tell him point blank Byrne was in town to speak with donors in regards to a buyout.

Either way (as many have said) I think a loss to MTSU really makes this happen.

...but, is this argument in favor of your rumor being true, or against?

why would an old man pull some one aside in a gym and tell him point blank Byrne was in town to speak with donors in regards to a buyout?

Any clue on how this man in the gym happens to know all this inside information?

and that's my point, why would this man do this if there wasn't some truth to it. Basically, I'm saying I think there is at least something to the story.

To the other question about who the man is: I asked the same thing and all I'm told he's someone that runs in those circles. This gym that I'm referencing is also the same place the Coach Sherrill and Peggy work out. Not that it means anything, but there's a decent amount of well to do State fans in that "area".

who I call a semi-cigar boy told me they`re gearing up to force Croom`s hand on some coaching changes at year end and hoping he`ll get mad enough to accept a reduced buyout ala Cutcliffe. My source is the same guy that told me Croom would be hired the day after Jackie resigned.

there's something to it no doubt. This is the last thing I'll say about it. I think Bryne is doing the legwork upfront so he can pull the trigger quickly if the season ends like we all think it's going to end. LT on the other hand would have waited until Dec. to see if the buyout money was there leaving us with some retread hire in January. Byrne seems to be playing his cards right.

& let him call the offense with no interference, he could maybe succeed. Doubt he will ever do that, though. I had high hopes for Croom (with some reservation), but my hopes were dashed with the 06 Tulane game (if not before). Although I didn't want to admit it, I knew we were damn lucky in several games last year (Aub, UAT, UM most definitely, etc.).

The whole situation sucks. We fire him the media makes us look bad and if we bring in another OC we just give him more time. I just hope that there is some way that he does not come back next year. I really don't care how or what happens as a result with the media and etc. As much as I hate to hope we lose out, I think that is exactly what is needed. I'm sure the people on other site say thats whats wrong with the pack's attitude but I tried of people thinking that we don't deserve to be better than this.

that I will never hope state loses at anything but in this situation it's hard for me to not want us to go 2-10 before we go 4-8 (a big win over bama or mississippi would be nice though). If we are going to have a terrible season it might as well be bad enough to get crooms *** canned.
