Here's Auburn's best option right now:

Have Cecil "come clean" tonight, claiming he solicited money from State under Rogers' influence, but never did from Auburn. Auburn "self-reports" the violation (hilarious), says they will punish Cam internally. Sit him at the start of the game, bring him in after a quarter or half if needed, if not sit him the whole game and then claim it was a 1 game suspension from the beginning. Turns the matter over to the NCAA to accept or not, playing him in the meantime.

This lets them play Cam as needed, while hopefully (for them) avoiding the worst of 'lack of institutional control' charges down the line.

Right now only MSU looks like fools...Auburn is laughing at this. we need Cecil to "come clean" worse than them.

So how did Auburn end up with Cam??? You think that we look badly because Slive did not like us going above his head due to his inaction? I will eat crow if I am wrong, but I believe based on everything that I have read and seen that MSU did nothing wrong.

Sorry I guess I've been a Mississippi State fan far far to long to see us walking away from this thing with any respect or without major skeletons being dug up.

Some of you fans have to stop with teh self defeat. Your letting Auburn and Slive talk you into thining youare guilty. Come on.

Reverse the roles. Waht if they turned it in and we had him. Would that Jack *** SLive be saying this?

He was hiding the cheating to save his ***, and his administration. He is to blame for that part, Auburn will soon be to blame for paying players.

Our fault- we called the Dad on it.

If liars punish you for telling the truth, I guess that's a consequence but it is not a lack of respect.
We may lose respect from the cheaters, but that's okay too.
So far, Mississippi State is in "the right".

The SEC office and Auburn have some issues that they will need to sort out.

otherwise, the heresay and smear campaigns will continue, and it will be us vs. Slive and the SEC, Auburn, and all the Alabama media.

Right now, we look like dipshits.

The only thing ... THE ONLY thing .. that has been put forth is allegations.

Allegations have a shelf life and if they are not backed up by iron-clad, damning proof against the alleged party, then people start to think it was all just empty accusations.

Don't be a defeatist. This is not the same MSU, just happy to be a subservient member of the SEC. We have young dynamic leadership in the Presidents Office, the Athletic Department, and the Head Football Coach position. They don't give a **** about the good ole boy SEC network. The world has changed and so have we and a lot of other SEC schools. Mike Slive is an old man control freak that doesn't understand the new media. Auburn still has Pat Dye as a football adviser and Booby Lowder on the BOT. They act as if it is still 1980, but it isn't. There will no negative consequences for going against the establishment, doing the right thing, and exposing the old boy network.

I agree now things don't look so good, but I don't think Slive is going to be able to keep the NCAA or the FBI at bay on this thing. I think when it all comes out in the wash we will be fine.

and I don't think he's being defeatist as much as he's being realistic. Don't get me wrong - I'm glad we did the right thing and reported it. But a large part of me wishes Rogers, Bond and Bell would have just stuck with "no comment" in public and that this had all played out without being in the public eye until a resolution had been reached.

Slive's comments today should make everyone realize that the league office isn't looking at this the same way we are. We look at this as having told the truth or having done the right thing and that we will eventually be vindicated. The league office looks at it as Mississippi State creating a headache for them and a black eye for the conference. They also probably look at it as us costing the league $17 (or $21 whatever it is) million dollars if the SEC only gets into one BCS bowl because of this.

If you guys don't think the SEC will be in some way vindictive towards us then you haven't been paying attention to how we get treated when we aren't passing on info on a major NCAA violation. For those of you who answer with the "what are they gonna do? Ban cowbells, not support our players, not help us get in the NCAA Tournament" line of thinking, I'll tell you that it can be worse. I don't know how exactly, but I'm sure the league office and other members will find new and inventive ways to "keep us in our place."

You nailed it. I have no issue with turning it in but if MSU leaked it public as Slive, AU and all the media seem to think then I everybody involved should be canned. Sorry but I live in North Carolina and I can tell you that 99% of the talk radio here is how MSU is a bunch of lying vindictive crybabies.

They kind of look at it as "everyone cheats so there is no reason to rat anyone out" and say things like "it would have been better for the conference to just let it go."

...I'm eager to see just how screwed Auburn is over this whole mess.

This is one of the most dynamic pay-to-play scenarios in college football history.

Slive can double-talk, the SEC can hide behind politics, the NCAA can act like typical NCAA idiots, but the FBI will not leave until they have retrieved their pound of flesh.
