You may be right. Mitchell could be good for us to keep the ball on the ground instead of over left field wall. Those guys have 60 + home runs.

I go Fitts Friday. He's faced much better hitting teams and done well against them. Ideally, Fitts would give you 6-7 and Lindgren would pitch for a couple but not throw too many pitches. Then Mitchell and Holder on Saturday. Then hopefully we can polish off ULL with Laster/Bracewell/Lindgren.

I realize the above is a best case scenario but hopefully it happens.

1) Laster
2) Mitchell
3) Fitts

Hopefully Lindo isn't needed Friday night, but if he is we gotta go to him. Def want Mitchell going against ULL.

FITTS will not go 6-7 innings. FITTS almost NEVER goes 6-7 innings. Hell, Bob C. could count on one hand (with fingers left over) the amount of games Trevor has pitched beyond the 4th inning. He is not an effective starting pitcher unless you give him an EARLY LEAD....which this team cannot do 9 times out of every 10 games.

LASTER, MITCHELL, LINDGREN, HOLDER.

everyone else is a shot in the dark.

I don't think Fitts coming out early has anything to do with Fitts but everything to do with Lindgren. Cohen and butch have had a good plan that has worked well. Let Fitts get through the order twice and go to Lindgren. Then Saturdays let Ross get you as far as he can and turn it over to holder. I don't expect them to change the plan but id like to see them roll the dice with Fitts a little longer.

If we knew that we could get a few runs early, hell yeah, throw Fitts against whomever. But we don't know..and odds are, bats will be cold as ice...as usual. Fitts comes unglued at first sign of trouble in close games...LSU being the exception. LSU was still stinging from being swept at Florida.

I do agree that Fitts melts down at the first sign of trouble.

I don't think it would be a great idea to throw Mitchell (Mr. pitch-to-contact) against SDSU OR ULL (sporting a .315+ team batting average.) Why can't we go Laster/Lindgren for Game 1 and 2? Especially Lindgren against ULL. Stats don't lie, he is one of the best swing and miss pitchers in all of college baseball. My point being, he would give us our best shot at a win against ULL in their own corndog infested backyard. Sounds like our best bet to me. My thoughts:

Game 1) Laster
Game 2) Lindgren
Game 3) Fitts/Mitchell

So you think it would be a good idea to not pitch our ace all weekend? Brilliant idea.

Let's start a guy who has not started all year and move our best starter back to the bullpen. Not sure id do this.

You must not understand baseball. Pitch to contact guys tend to be more consistent than K guys. You also don't understand how truly hard it is to square up against Mitchell because his speeds are sick. He can also go deeper into games. I don't know why'd you'd want to move our ace to te pen.

Cohen and Butch will get this right. You will see...

Fitts vs SDSU (Hopefully no Lindgren needed)
Ross vs ULL (Holder, Lindgren, whoever else needed)
Laster vs ULL or losers bracket game (kitchen sink if needed)
Woodruff or Bracewell if we have to play again (kitchen sink)

I think Lindgren has proven that he can't start under any circumstances.

This times 100.

He was even terrible when he came out to start the 7th inning of the rain delayed game against Texas A&M. He got one out (on a sac bunt) and put three runners on base. Holder had to come in and bail him out of that jam. Lindgren is awesome, but we don't want him starting at all.

Good thing we have you, drt7891, as an overriding authority on all things baseball. Keep killin' it buddy.
