Here's my theory on the Turner situation.

No facts here, just a guess.

Turner spouted off about not coming back but it was chalked up as just talk, nothing official. Turner has seemingly always been somewhat frustrated with things, be it his playing time, the effort others give, the game plan, the results...pretty much the program in general, including Stansbury. He decides he is for sure not coming back and blows of some end of the year meetings. The letter comes and Phil figures what the heck, I'll take a swipe at Stansbury, so he plays the woe is me card about a decision he had already made that the letter just confirmed. It's a pretty cold-blooded final knife in the back from Phil to Stansbury.

I like Phil, and the effort he gave... But the fact is, that he has absolutely nothing to lose here. Meanwhile, Stansbury has a lot to lose. I think those two things explain a lot...

Add a wrinkle to your excellent supposition: Philassured MAMA he was going back to school to finish his degree, and this whole show is just to cover hisass for lyingto her.

I myself have taken drastic measures to keep my mama from being pissed at me.

Turner told him a month ago he was coming back. So if you theory is true, Turner's plan was masterful to start it over a month ago.

with the program. I am a Stans supporter, but we need to change the way we do some things. If Stans wants to recruit big time players, he needs to get out of the way and let them play, and let the best players play. If not, recruit different type guys. He wins, but our program just seems to always have some dumb **** going.

Oh please Phil, you are the greatest, we need you to play 30 min per game blah, blah, blah. Come back we love you.

Butguess what....in reality Ravern is going to play 30 min per game. Don'tneed Phil.
Kodi isgoing to start the year at 4 (While Win-Dell or runs like shot deer is forced into the 5 role) {and I still contend that until Sidney is cleared we should have Kodi at the 5 like we didin the first Kentucky game when JV was in foul trouble; Kodi played WELL at the 5that game}probablygiving 25-30 min per game there. Don't need Philor Osby either I guess?
For some horrible reason, Benock is going to get his 15 min per game. Don't need Phil.
Bost/Steele/Bryant/Smith at the 2. Don't need Phil.
Phil glaring at Stans during timeouts as the team walks off the court, sitting on the bench staring off into the distance pissed off looking, etc....Don'tneed Phil.

I will bein the arena watching the team shaking my head if the following happens: Ravern shows up at 165 lbs and gets abusedfor the 4th straight year, maybe we could usePhil? Kodi gets in foul trouble and we could use another servicable player at the 4, maybe we could usePhil?
Bost gets denied, Smith is like one of thoselabs with persistent hip displasia that should be put down, and one of thetwo new guys has to play point (don't even sayTranny) and the othernew guy has to play two but his shot sucks, maybe we coulduse Phil?

Could we use the depth? Of course we could. Should this have been handled behind closed doors as opposed to facebook and dipshit blog reporters, of course it should have.Get your house in order Rick. Thisis bush league.

Its F'd up as hell to presume his mom would pay for him. To call him out for his comment and 'prove' it wrong by saying his well off mom can step in, so his comment has no basis.

Who the hell knows what his financial situation is with his parents?

At this point in my life, i am just tired of hearing that since someone's parents have money, then the kid's money problems will be immediately solved.

Im not saying Turner's comment on not affording college is accurate. He can suck it up and take out some loans like everyone else in college if needed. Clearly there are options for him to finish his 4 classes.
But assuming his mom will pay for it just because she isnt apparently struggling financially is beyone absurd.

Family usually takes care of each other. I would assume that at the least he could ask his mom for a loan for 4 classes. Being a parent myself, I think I would help my kid out in that situation. His mom would have to be a real ***** not to support him. I have heard that she is in fact a wonderful person and have heard a lot of great things about Phil as well.

Yes, they hate me. Even though i havent even hinted at what i have said applying to my family, they must hate me. Good point. Excellent reasoning. Stellar job of not leaping at something that wasnt ever said or even suggested.

I grew up in a very wealthy area of the country. I know more than a good number of kids that paid their own way thru school/are paying school off even though their parents live in homes that are worth 7digits. That is what i was referring to when i posted. It is dumb to call out a guy for not being able to afford college just because his mom isnt struggling. You have no idea what the family's situation is when it comes to money.

I was not speaking about me or my family. Not my parents nor myself as a parent.
Hopefully you will step off the Jump to Conclusions Mat soon.

"Turner's mom can easily afford his last 4 hours..........."

What was so absurd about that statement? Either she can or she can't, but it wasn't like he said "turner should go b/c his mom should pay for it".

I didnt because the point of that comment was exactly what i thought it was. That isnt me jumping to a conclusion of what he meant, its me interpreting the words he typed.

His point was that he has her to pay for his schooling since she apparently has money.

But hey if you feel i jumped to a conclusion instead of interpreting what he typed, then cool. Point still stands that he took what i said and completely drew conclusions werent even hinted in what i said.

Any chance this will route back the the thread topic? Or will it continue into some oddfocus on me for things i didnt say or hint at?

just like if he had said well turner can't turn to his parents b/c they are poor. That would be a valid point also.

I would say the majority of college tuition gets paid by parents. I could be off on that but i bet the %s are pretty high for parental financial support throughout college.
