RIP Ed McMahon.

LOS ANGELES - Television host Ed McMahon, best known as Johnny Carson's sidekick on the 'Tonight Show,' has died at age 86, his publicist said Tuesday.

McMahon died just past midnight at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, agent Howard Bragman said.

Ed was even more in the bag than usual. He didn't walk drunk, or look drunk, and he had the most peaceful smile on his face, but he absolutely babbled. Made no sense whatsoever. Johnny kept a straight face, agreed with what Ed said as if it made sense, and would take occasional sly wtf looks at the audience. It was a beautiful night and could not have been rehearsed or planned.
