They're doing it to be ironic (
like Dan on Fire). But 5 minutes after I posted this, there's a guy on sportstalk radio talking about the official Heisman candidates saying the Heisman Trophy has been diminished by the total lack of character shown by one Mr. Johnny Football Manziel. Went on to say he hopes Manziel washes out in the NFL as quickly as possible, because he's a horrible person and bad QB. Like the Heisman is college football's Nobel Peace Prize. No mention of noted paragons of character (non-football category) Billy Cannon and O.J. Simpson or (football category) Reggie Bush and Cam Newton. And zero mention of the current Jameis Winston situation. NONE. Just left it hanging there. But kept hammering the point if JFF won it again, it would tarnish the organization's reputation.
So, unlike the Grantland article THAT opinion is "serious."
All I'm saying is it's such a fine line between stupid and clever.
