That guy is just looking for internet fights. Horrible article as I skimmed it.

You know you're at least a little curious.
The Shame of Auburn Football.
It does have a kind of "you kids get off my lawn!" vibe (and hilariously considers Alabama...just read it).

Hmm... I'm confused. Is the whole article supposed to be tongue-in-cheek?

The article is prefaced with this, implying they are basically trolling....

Every now and then, we will attempt to write the worst sports column on earth. Today: Let's talk about the BCS National Championship and the value of integrity.

But the article isn't nearly bad enough to be considered "the worst sports column on earth".... so I don't know what to think.

I think y'all are missing the byline, "Every now and then, we will attempt to write the worst sports column on earth. Today: Let's talk about the BCS National Championship and the value of integrity."

It's a parody of bad sports writing, and the joke's on the commenters who think it's a serious article. Here's another one about the Mannings that sounds humorously familiar: http://www.grantland.com/blog/the-t...he-manning-family-doesnt-want-it-badly-enough

ETA: others have already pointed this out

Yeah, I guess I skimmed over that. Would it really be hard to believe it was a "legitimate" article written by a Bama fan, though?

That's what I get for skimming. As with any satire piece - if it's believable - you did a good job.

They're doing it to be ironic (like Dan on Fire). But 5 minutes after I posted this, there's a guy on sportstalk radio talking about the official Heisman candidates saying the Heisman Trophy has been diminished by the total lack of character shown by one Mr. Johnny Football Manziel. Went on to say he hopes Manziel washes out in the NFL as quickly as possible, because he's a horrible person and bad QB. Like the Heisman is college football's Nobel Peace Prize. No mention of noted paragons of character (non-football category) Billy Cannon and O.J. Simpson or (football category) Reggie Bush and Cam Newton. And zero mention of the current Jameis Winston situation. NONE. Just left it hanging there. But kept hammering the point if JFF won it again, it would tarnish the organization's reputation.
So, unlike the Grantland article THAT opinion is "serious."
All I'm saying is it's such a fine line between stupid and clever.
