Could one of you please explain how Lee's poor decision to pitch the ball to #2 cause the fumble. #2 had the ball, ran laterally for five yards, got hit and was stripped of the ball. Lee's bad decision should have resulted in a second and fourteen from the three yard line but the fumble is completely #2's fault in my humble opinion. When you explain how the fumble was Lee's fault please use small words and type slow so I can understand. Thank you in advance for your attention to this matter.

The guy who stripped the ball was responsible for Lee. If Lee holds the ball a little longer that defender commits to Lee and does not come from behind to strip the ball from Elliot. That's why Lee shares in the blame. There was a huge running lane if that defender doesn't get Elliot.

looked like we were pretty close to pitching forward on some of those..... would it be better for the qb to break back - make the defender comit to him - and then shuffle pass?

The QBs usually telegraphed the pitch to the RB and also strung the play out or played tentatively enough to allow pursuit to catch the play.

it doesnt 17'ing matter WHO tackled Elliot. It's Elliot's fault that he fumbled. And Mullen agreed when he didnt put his *** back in the game. If we run a toss sweep and the TE doesnt get the DE hooked and he strips the TB, are you going to say its the TE's fault the TB fumbled? Thats just stupid. Its the TE's fault he got tackled, but not that he fumbled. It's Lee's fault Elliot got tackled by the DE, but not his fault that Elliot fumbled.

as I was telling someone at the game, it was just as much Lee's fault for putting him in that position. It was a TERRIBLE pitch and decision on his part. Plus, it was a great strip by that guy simply because he secured the tackle with one hand and ripped with the other... 3 things went wrong for us on that play

There were two huge mistakes on the play; Lee's terrible pitch and Elliott's fumble.

If Lee doesn't commit the first mistake, the second one never happens. So while Lee doesn't share direct blame for the fumble, a senior QB should be trusted to make a good decision when we're backed up at our own 5 yard line.

All that said, the defense sacked up and held them to a field goal. Why all the bitching?

How can you make that assumption? Who's to say that the LB'er pursuing him wouldnt have stripped the ball? That would have been Lee's fault too right?

Are you asking me how i know that Elliott wouldn't have fumbled if Lee hadn't pitched him the ball? I feel like I've either got a faulty sarcasm meter or I'm in serious danger of slipping off into a coach 34 argument vortex from which there is no escape or right answer.

I thought I said it pretty plainly. Two mistakes happened. If the first one doesn't occur, the second one doesn't either. I don't know how that can logically argued.

i'm saying that had Lee attacked the DE like he was supposed to before pitching to Elliot, who's to say the LB'er wouldnt have made Elliot fumble? You saying the fumble wouldnt have occurred if Lee hadnt pitched it when he did to him is ludicrous...Elliot fumbled and thats all on him- 0% of the blame is on Tyson for the fumble.
