You call yourself the Rebels, but your mascot is the Black Bear.
It looks like you want to be a Landshark now...

You are like a damn woman, and you can't up your mind...

Well, when all this mascot debacle went down, they emailed all the alumni and we voted which of the 3 we preferred. Considering I'm from the coast, I voted for the Landshark (which I believe was a close 2nd behind the bear, but we all knew it was predetermined that the bear was going to be chosen). I always liked the story behind it. I'm assuming you know the story behind it, but just in case you don't: Tony Fein was a 25 year old military vet that lead our defense. He started it (for whatever reason) and at the time, it was different. It was fun to "do the landshark." Of course, he passed away after his playing career was over, so we also do it to honor him (and yes, I realize most of the students probably don't know that, but why should they?) So, I love that we kept it around.

However, Marshall Henderson took it to a completely different level (one that I don't personally agree with, but oh well). So, I will give yall that.

However, I deeply apologize that the "landshark" offends yall so. My question to you is which would yall prefer us to be? Yall love making fun of us being "bears" but many of you say we should have stuck with "rebels." But then, you say we should get rid of "rebels" because its racist. So now, we have something completely different and yet it still bugs yall.

I thought it was a gang sign. Made me nervous we were going to have an on field incident like in the last boyscout.

I say drop the Bear and be the Landshark if you want, but be consistent at whatever you choose...
If you voted to be the Bears, then why all this Landshark crap?

The Plainsmen/Tigers/War Eagles would like a word. So would the Purple People Eaters who were already Vikings, the Hogs who were Redskins, or any other of a myriad of teams with names for their defense/offensive line/whatever.

I don’t get why MSU’s mascot is a bulldog, yet y’all make that hand gesture where you shake a farm implement used for locating livestock. It’s very confusing.

So you want to be like Auburn now? I never did understand why they have 3 mascots either.
And, I am pretty sure all of Auburn's different mascot names go back more than 6 or 7 years.

You're the Rebels. There's nothing wrong or racist about the term "Rebels". Be the Rebels. I actually liked the Admiral Ackbar idea for a mascot. I thought that was brilliant. The one that bugs me is "Ole Miss". It doesn't bother me because it's an old racist term. It bothers me because every dipshit outside of Mississippi confuses the difference between the University of Mississippi and Mississippi State University and I'm convinced it's because you use Ole Miss instead of Mississippi. However the state name of "Mississippi" is long as 17 to say over and over so I can understand the need to shorten it. We say MSU. You say Ole Miss or University of Ole Miss if you're Robert Nkemdiche. Maybe you should just drop the 'e' on Ole and be "Ol Miss". Then it's no longer a racist term and now looks Spanish.**

I'm not going to lie, I laughed out loud at that (and honestly, I agree with everything you said 'cept for the Ackbar idea....even the RN part haha)

When are your fans going to realize that we are always going to make fun of you?

You know we know that. And, you know we will always make fun of you. Just seeing if I could get some sort of "real" response. DAWG61 actually did that...

Well, yes, but that would necessitate a brown shirt with a black hole in the

center and it would be difficult to differentiate that from Alabama as well.......

He sells these tees at Margaritaville so I'd be surprised to hear he didn't have it trademarked. His version of the hand sign is a bit douchey

What I thought was funny was when Marshall Henderson did that rooster thing, and all the OM duds thought he was "landsharking".

The Alabama Crimson Tide's mascot is an elephant. The Auburn Tigers...

...chant "War Eagle." The Tennessee Volunteers' mascot is a hound dog. Who knows what an Aggie is, but their cry is "12th man". This board is overly caught up in garbage. Why can't we just claim scoreboard in 3 of the last 4 Egg Bowls and let it stand? Why do we have to deal in stupid ****? The Landshark is stupid. But that school didn't write the book on splitting mascots. We're in Omaha. They aren't. Are our consistent triumphs over them really not enough?

I thoroughly enjoyed hearing the commentators...

...discuss Marshall Henderson's rooster gesture. Maybe he was coked up when the football players were giving him his tutorial.
