I just think its goofy that a 12-4 team goes and plays against an 8-8 team at home. Its like how the NBA awards the 1 2 and 3 seeds in the playoffs based on division winners even though maybe one or two of the teams don't deserve it.

but the rain let loose like Noah's Flood here, so we figured it would be too sloppy to sit through. By game time there was not a cloud in the frickin' sky. Didn't know if you were in SoCal or back in Mississippi.

I really want to see Norv gone, but I enjoy the winning part.

then why even have divisions to start with? That's the only way to make the divisions mean anything and otherwise you'd wind up with just 2 16-team conferences. Personally, I think they should split the difference and have 4 8-team divisions, with the 4 division champions getting the 1st round byes and the 4 2nd place teams hosting the wild-card games against the 4 3rd or worse place teams with the best records. If the league were broken down that way this year, it's doubtful the Chargers could have finished 2nd in their division (or even made the playoffs at all most likely). That'll never happen though, because you couldn't play home-and-home against your divisional rivals and the league wouldn't stand for a lot of the traditional rivalries being played only half as often.

I think you still have division winners that get in the playoffs but then they should be placed on record.

If they did it geographically and combined the AFC West and NCF West, they would probably finish 2nd and make the playoffs. But if they kept the conferences and combined the AFC West with the AFC South or North, the Chargers would have finished 3rd or worse (depending on the tiebreaker with the Texans) and missed the playoffs either way because even as the 3rd place team, they wouldn't have a better record than the 4th place team from the other division.</p>

It's ok to honor the divisions and let less than spectacular teams like Arizona and San Diego in the playoffs. They won their divisions, they deserve it. But neither should have hosted a game this weekend. Indy and Atlanta had MUCH better regular seasons than their opponents, but they got %+$+#+ by an archaic rule.
