Cleveland county is a mighty fine county for high school talent. I played on the ER team that lost to Crest 40-0 in the 3AA championship game in 2003. There were some things that went on prior to that game and that ER team was far better than a 40 point dog but the circumstances were nobody's fault but our own. That being said an ER Cates coached team isn't going to get embarrassed or fail to show up too many times. The only other time I can remember is a few years ago when Murphy came to town and set them straight. Again there were some more circumstances that day that affected things. However talent for talent and man for man I could see this Friday being the third time what I would call a good butt whopping could happen and for the record as of right now there are no underlying circumstances that I am aware of if it does.

This ER team is more of the big strapping corn fed farm kid look. I don't know that they have the speed to hang with Shelby in the secondary but I do expect them to fair better than Mt Airy did back there. Two incompletions would make me happy. Offensively I think ER can do a little more than Mt Airy did as well. We don't have a Martin running the ball but we do have two pretty good sized young men and a QB that can throw it when needed as well. Really Easterns only shot is the gameplan Mt Airy should have went with. Run the ball, plod down the field, control the possession, and keep the Shelby offense off the field. If they can't do that and they get behind early then it'll be a long night or a pretty short one.

Shelby has appeared in the Championship Title game at least TWICE in each of the last SIX DECADES.

If Shelby can get to the Title game this year,
along with our Title in 2021, it would be SEVEN CONSECUTIVE DECADES WITH MULTIPLE CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE GAME APPEARANCES.

Those are accomplishments no other program in North Carolina can even fathom.

We know we have been incredibly blessed with athletes, coaches, faculty, and community support. We humbly give thanks.
But we can’t and will not allow just word of mouth to tell our story.
But we did like it better that way.

I think MA game plan was ok with 2 minutes till halftime. Shelby only had the ball twice and it was 14-7 game. Shelby scores in 1 min 21-7 MA throws interception Shelby runs it back to midfield 9 seconds left. They score in 2 plays ,game over. Watching ER against Walkertown they will play receivers more aggressive and take a penalty before giving up big play. Mayberry had the mayor help park Shelby bus what kind of welcoming will Eastern Randolph give the Shelby Lions.

Personally respect the heck out of Shelby football history. You know how much that means on Friday nights? Nothing, nada, zilch.
Teenagers don’t know about the “history” of so and so high. They just know at the end of the night what the scoreboard says.
Will Eastern Randolph succeed Friday? It will be a tall task and everything will have to go their way. If they don’t. Yeah they will be upset but only ones that will remember it in a year or so are old folks on message boards. And booster clubs.

I agree 100 percent.Those last two minutes changed everything. This week with the big change in weather who knows what will happen.

Doesn’t that mean they are favored by 21 and 1/2 points?
Couple of questions I’ve always wanted to ask: A: who scores half a point?
and 2: why if a team is favored there’s a - sign beside them? Shouldn’t it logically be a + sign?

Letting the Lions speak for themselves as they've done for over a hundred years. Na, I just hadn't signed up on the new site after the switch. Been sticking to the hilarious Facebook group.

Hey @theKidd#12 how’s deer season going … we lost our thread so I just wanted to say hello .. as far as Shelby you know the deal man ..they are darn near impossible to beat late in the season so good luck and yeah Shelby Sucks from Rutherford co 😂
