He's a decent rush defensive end, and may be able to bring pressure on the QB. However, he's a tweener, too small to be an everyday defensive end and too slow to be a linebacker, and he's not a special-teamer.

Huge sell

Conversation was probably, "hey Jerry, if you talk about picking him up, you'll be leading the media circus for a few days"

Jerry might as well build a circus because he`s proven he can`t build an NFL winning franchise.

Not singling you out or anything, but just in general, why is it so hard for people to accept that a team might use a 7th round pick on a guy who was generally projected to be a 6th/7th round pick? Why is it so hard for people to accept that based on that, he came close to making the team? And why is so hard to accept that when he didn't, another team might want to at least put that 7th round guy on their practice squad?

Why do people want to spin some conspiracy theory when the guy has so far had a pretty typical career for a guy projected to the be a 6th/7th round pick?

It's worth noting that Sam was the only player in the entire NFL to have 2.5 or more sacks in the preseason (he had 3.0) to not make a roster or practice squad, so it should be no surprise that a team might want to pick him up...

If Sam can't make it with the Cowboys...

...he's not going to make it. Their defense is going to be one of the worst defenses in NFL history.
