Hey Patdog- still don't think a week off makes a big difference???

they are at home and have had extra prep time...I think the fact that they have lost 2 QB's offsets that somewhat though

I will be surprised if either team scores 30 because of that but i think we win because we had a light week last week with Alcorn and we will be more physical

He always said that no matter how good your team is, you are going to always have to play in at least one close game, and if you're going to win a championship, you're going to have to find a way to win that close game.

For Alabama, doesn't look good right now. And sure enough, if they don't win, they probably won't win a National Championship.

And you know- I looked throughout college history at all of the National Champions, and I'll be darned if he was right.

they look spent today. I think the run of Ark, FL and SC with 2 of those being on the road has taken its toll on them.

South Carolina is a lot better than they were last year, and this game really didn't have the pizazz of their last two- one against a Heisman contender and one vs archrival and undefeated Florida. Plus, as you said, it was on the road and this was probably South Carolina's biggest game of the year.

giving a good defensive team 2 weeks to get ready for a game is huge.

Look at today- Bama had given up 5 sacks in 4 games coming in- SC has 7 today...Ingram and Richardson are getting stuffed with no running lanes...McElroy is confused...that extra week is tremendous

Tenn last season- had the week off and should have beaten Bama last year in T-Town- Bama blocked 2 FG's to win it...Tenn held Bama to almost nothing all day

LSU's D will give Bama fits...their stupidity on offense may cost them too much to win- but you can bet that defense of LSU's will give them every chance to win the game

Especially MSU.

South Carolina has a good team. I've picked them to win the East and beat Florida. And they have a good DC in Ellis Johnson.

I have no doubt that the rest helped them some, but I don't think the sole reason that they beat Alabama was because of the bye week. If what you are insinuating is true, then Ole Miss should beat Bama next week.

I think the fact that South Carolina has good players and good coaches and was playing at home has more to do with them beating Alabama than the fact that they had a bye week.

I talked about having a good defensive team and getting that extra week- mentioning teams like Mississippi and us that suck having a bye week is irrelevant.

I'll repeat:

Tenn last year should have beaten Bama- had the week off and had a really good defense
SC- had the week off and has a really good defense
LSU- has the week off and has a really good defense

The week off for teams like that is tremendous. Does it 100% mean they will win? No. But it damn sure increases their chances- as does playing at home
