The Hotel's going to have Bama fans staying there, and it's bad business to insult the people who are providing you the business. Sure all the suggestions about putting the "what year did you graduate?" and the shots at the refs/replay officials were funny, but you can't risk bad publicity to Holiday Inn Express or more importantly your own business. Its funny, but not offensive to the Bammers.</p>
That's where you are wrong, it's not funny. I think they could've gotten away with a cheap shot at the refs. Surely Bammers wouldn't have taken offense to that. Hell, it's not like they don't hear about it all the time. Terribly disappointing, and so not funny...even if you do get it.Pointcitydawg said:
everytime I have stayed there (which is about 4 times out of last 2 years) the officials have congregated downstairs and loaded up in a van to head to the game. I don't know if they were staying there or just meet there before the game. But, HIE may have a conflict with insulting the officials FWIW

I hardly expect anyone on this board to "lighten up." Sure, it's just a marquee for a hotel, but it sucks, and there were at least a dozen better ideas. You should know by now, anything of that sucktitude is going to be bashed unmercifully on this board. We ***** and ***** about anything and everything MSU related, usually to no avail, because ultimately our input and criticisms are largely ignored (at least it seems so). In this case, we did have input that was actually requested, and they go with this ********? Personally, I could care less what the HI Express's marquee says, I just don't understand why they would request our help just to settle for this crap. Especially when there were so many quality suggestions made. Very few will like it, because very few will get it. And I hardly find it bush league to bad mouth the refs who are so brazenly making biased calls in favor of certain teams, especially when the whole country is bashing them already. And for those of you saying it would be bad for business for them to go with something that might be a little more controversial, where else are people going to stay? Last time I checked it's next to impossible to find a decent hotel room in Starkville on game weekends. I don't think anyone is going to drive to Columbus or Philadelphia for a room because they don't like what the HI's marquee says.
