Terrence Hibbler? He was a second year player. This is not good. He’s the exact type guy we need to develop. Can’t judge the guy by 2 years. That’s how we got wiped out after 2023 when Lenny sent all those 1/2 year players packing.

Portal entry doesn't necessarily mean he will leave, though we may have advised him to do so

I know we'll never get the full story but I sure hope we aren't sending redshirt freshmen packing because they "can't get on the field". These MS guys generally grow up in year 3, especially the DL.

These are the type guys we need to pay a little to stick around and be ready as juniors and seniors.

Meh. He might get some playing time at a G6 school.

I think we should also try and hold on to this type but, we’ll see what happens with him down the road.
Just hope we don’t have him causing havoc in our backfield in a SEC game.

Like you do have any idea. We’ll see where he winds up.
I can show you a demonstrated history. And yeah he may never pan out now that he's leaving. The portal is not good for these raw MS guys. They benefitted greatly, as did the NFL, from them in the old system.

I hate to break it to you. But we’ve had a lot more players who didn’t do anything for 2 seasons who never did anything than ones we developed into good players in year 3 or 4. Maybe he’s in the 1st category, but Lebby seems to think he’s in the 2nd one.

Lots of people on here assuming we pushed him out. Could just as easily be that he lost patience and wants to try and get on the field.

If we did encourage it you have to trust the coaches who are around them everyday to decide if they’ll turn into anything or not. The coaches are probably right on a guy they have for 2 years 80%+ of the time.

and most of the ones that do turn it around needed that kick in the butt to become something (ie Luka finally getting in shape for the Lakers)

I'm interested. Please show the history that demonstrates third year DL who didn't do much in years 1 and 2 but grew up in year 3.

You have zero clue as to why he is in the portal. Try looking around other schools who are experiencing the same if not more. The mentally of our glass half empty posters fail to look outside of program to see this is normal. It’s now the new norm to see freshman and RS freshmen transfer down in hopes of playing time and then transfer back to the SEC or other major conference. So many of you simply make assumptions of the worst. I can’t imagine life being so dark.

Quinnen Williams first one I thought of.

2016- redshirt
2017- 15 tackles
2018- Outland Trophy winner

I’m not saying Hibbler is going to be Williams. But most of the time the linemen on both sides take time to develop, and most of the good ones make a big jump in year three.

If a supposed pass rusher can't play on this team, it's time for him to go. Never thought he was as good as his rating anyway and we didn't have to beat out many for him really

I was unaware Williams was a raw MS guy.**

He was playing behind Deron Payne in 16 and 17 so not much opportunity.
